I'm trying to stay away from the "What's Hot" thing. Instead I'm focusing on getting things that would be used/ enjoyed.
DD18 - our in-house fashionista wants a specific designer handbag, more of a tote really. I know she'd use it - she's starting college next week and she's not the backpack/ messenger bag sort-of girl. She'd use that daily as her book bag. A bit pricey but I am considering it.
DSD18 - would probably prefer money to spend as she sees fit. Not much fun wrapping money and presenting it as a gift, but that's probably the gift she'd appreciate the most.
DD12 (nearly 13 by Christmas) - Has asked for an upgrade from her iPod Nano to an iTouch. She'll borrow her big sister's every chance she gets so I know it will be used. My problem is that she's stereotypical ADHD and is so careless that she'd misplace her head if it wasn't attached to her body.
We have no idea what we should get for my 20 year old stepson - employed full time, living on his own etc. His tastes exceed our budget so it's always a challenge to find him something he'd appreciate!
how about if you wrap the money in weird and interesting ways? maybe put some money in an empty paint can, then wrap it. perhaps an old printer or camera box (fake her out a little!), blank CD case, in a picture frame. it could be fun, and i'm sure she'd get a kick out of it. i would have, at her age, especially knowing my step-mom and dad put such effort into it.
