It means that they cannot give you an exact room number since the category that is being requested is already reserved. If at the time payments are due there is an available room in that category (a cancelation), they will give it to you. If not they will get you a room that is a higher category. They will not give you anything any lower. Hope this makes sense.

Thank you guys. I got my deposit statement and it has the room number on it. When I pay the balance, the room number might change? And they may upgrade me if that room is already taken?
I really like that room location. She asked me what room I want and I told her. So what I requested is not a guarantee then, am I correct. Sorry for being a pain...But thanks for all your help though!!

Correct, But From time to time people with assigned rooms also Can be UPGRADED From What ever Catagory Room U have To A higher one if They need the Rooms...

For example Disney likes to Keep the lower pricing level open for booking so if u had a cat 12 room u may Be upgraded to cat 9 or So..

I hope we get so lucky as to be upgraded~ that would be very nice. But if not, I am thankful that I do not think we will be spening too much time in the room!

I am paying for what I really want. Cat 9, Deck 2. I don't know if I want to be upgraded. I suppose if they do, they can upgrade us to Cat 8, but that's it. I hear the lower you are and midship, the better, less motion, less sea sick. I don't know if I want to be upgraded to verandah, I don't think I trust my kids with that sliding door and being out there, while I am using the bathroom or taking a quick nap.

I guess I will find out when I pay my balance, if they changed my room number where they upgraded me. If they did, maybe I can call DCL to see if I can keep my room number or at least put me in the room neary by it.

I had not even thought about the kids and the verandah. That would make me a nervous wreck! We would have to have a navigator's verandah, that is for sure. But, I don't think I have heard of anyone falling off the verandah, so I guess that is a little comforting.

What is navigator's verandah? maybe that's an option for me if they want to upgrade me.

It's the one that has a semi-enclosed verandah. The bottom part is metal I think and there is a port hole sized opening. This is if I am remembering what I read correctly. You can find pics at the DCL tribute website or somewhere on here or the Crusie website.
