Hi,
I just read a thread on this board and someone mentioned a cooking class at the GF for their kids. What exactly is this and do you have to stay at GF to participate? My DD 6 loves loves loves to cook. We call her Rachel Ray after the tv show host. She sits in front of the cooking channels on TV and watches everything and tries their tips.

Thanks!!
Lisa

My DD6 attended this last March. She really loved it. The kids got to make Strawberry Shortcake. After they were done they brought it into the lobby of the GF and passed it out to everybody. Alice and the Mad Hatter also stopped by to say hi and eat some of the food.

See my signiture below. We took DD6s picture right after the event. The aprin and the hat are extremely cute and great souveniers to take home.

Over on teh family board most people have been really happy with this experience. We were quite disappointed though. All our kids did was decorate sugar cookies. They didn't cook them or anything, just decorated. My older two had fun but were disappointed that they did NO cooking. THe apron and hat are cute, the kids had fun but it sure wasn't worth the money. (Even with Disney math!) Another family there was quite upset because "Chef Bobbie" was incredibly rude to them about their DD. There were several other issues too, to the point that I considered calling to complain. I decided that since the kids overall had had fun, I was just letting it go.

My DD 10 did Grand Ad. in Cooking. I had just found out about it and 10 is the cut off (same w/ the pirate cruise, which she did as well) so we wanted her to experience both. She liked it, but they only decorated cookies too (and they paint the aprons, too), but wanted to make something, but she was OK with it. You don't have to stay at the GF. The best part is when they have their aprons and hats on..everyone gives them attention. My DD got a lot of attention when we got back to the BC..Art the Greeter and several CM came up to chat about her experience. While I was waiting to pick her up...the GF was having the Princess Tea Party..it was soooo cute! The little girls, moms and some dads too, were all clapping and singing..the looks on th e girl's faces were priceless! We're doing that next year..all 4 of us!

DD8 has been several times--and took her four-year-old cousin last year. She loves it. It really never involves "true" cooking. A little sprinkling of cheese on mini bagel pizzas, spooning filling into mini-tarts, decorating cookies or cupcakes. It's not really meant to be a real cooking lesson, more like fun with food. We have been very happy every time. We never had Chef Bobbie. She has had Chef Drew (I forget which restaurant he was from, but DD was enamored) and just the Mouseketeer Club staff too and they have always been fabulous. It used to be a lot less money, but when you figure you are getting childcare, an apron, a toque and food, it's still worthwhile to me. Enjoy!
