Hi,
Was just wondering what hotel everyone would recommend? There's so many to choose from I thought I would be better off asking all you knowledgable DISers!
I would like to stay as near as possible,
Thanks in advance,
Ruby xxx

Let me start by saying that I haven't stayed there and I don't work for them, but I have read great reviews on the HOJO that is across the street.

Hi! Personally, and my family would agree that the Desert Inn is PERFECT. It's an awesome hotel and it's literally across the street from the park. Some people have bad reviews on it, but we've never had a problem. After a long day at the park, you would want a hotel that isn't far so you don't have to walk far. Your feet will thank you :goodvibes It's worth the extra money!

About HOJOs.. you'll be getting a lot of that because it saves you money, but personally, it's quite far. After a long day, I rather walk across the street & BAM, you're ready to rest.

It's up to you though!

Is the Desert Inn closer than the Tropicana? I thought the Tropicana and the Best Western were the closest two as they flank the crossing.
Anyone?:confused3

HoJo. Clean, large rooms, great beds, gorgeous grounds, walking distance, awesome pool areas, customer service, and if you get the entertainment rate, it's the best value found anywhere in the Anaheim area.

I can highly recommend The Candy Cane Inn. The free breakfast and the dedicated shuttle are very nice perks.

I will be staying at the HOJOs in October, so I have to hold recommendation on that one until then.

tropicana is closest to the crosswalk

desert inn is down a couple hotels but is very close

Candy Cane Inn or Hojo's.

My third pick (we stay for free with SPG points) would be the Sheraton Park. Costs more than the others, but definitely a notch above.

Decide which factors are most important to you - like being close, free breakfast, good views, large rooms/pool size, etc. and go from there. Good luck deciding!

According to all these maps as well as Alex Stroup's "How Far is It" guide, Best Western Park Place Inn is the closest to the crosswalk:

I'm pretty sure that Park Vue Inn is the second closest, with Tropicana following as the third.

my sister highly recommends the camelot...which i believe is a couple hotels down from the tropicana.

how about the park vue inn? has anyone stayed there recently? i was thinking of either the park vue inn or desert inn for next year's trip.

yeah it is opps but they are all on top of each other so it is a matter of feet is all.

Just called the Desert inn and they were cheaper than the Tropicana for two adjoining rooms. On three of our nights it was $100 less! But with DMIL's knees will the few feet seem like alot?

Alo, the map seems so deceptive. Sometimes I look and the Tropicana seems closer. Then you will see pics here on the Dis that makes it looks farthur. And then the other hotels I could say the same about depending on the photograhers perspective???:confused3

Well, if you go to google maps and type in 1313 South Harbor Blvd., Anaheim, you can go to "street" view and then click on the little yellow man standing on Harbor Blvd. and you will have the same perspective as if you were driving right down Harbor Blvd. You can then pan the photo to look to the East so you are looking straight at the hotels on Harbor. You can't get much more accurate than that.

Also, Alex Stroup's "how far is it" really does prove by actual measured distance which is truly closer.

hojos and desert inn ive heard good about.
camolot inn i stayed in an it was grate, room 404 and 405 and 406 and a few others have grate firework views my son fell sleep watching them

no it is not that far at all

Out of the 4 hotels that we have stayed at near DL our favorite is Residence Inn Maingate. The rooms are large with a kitchen...they have a full hot breakfast buffet which saved our family $30-40/day....they keep it really clean...you can walk we did in the mornings 15 minutes with a 5 & 8 yr old...but they do have the ART which you can take we found that if you stayed at the back of the hotel or far side you can take Route 7B as well as 7A. We just got back from 2 weeks there and when we got there I had asked for an upper floor well the girl said your in luck because we upgraded you to a 1 bedroom delux. We had a huge room with 2 balconies. You could see the fireworks from the stairs oustide our door.

We spent a couple of nights last year at the Fairfiled Inn. It was nice. The location was great!

this year we are staying at the HOJOs and I hope that it lives up to the hype here on the DIS. (I have a lot of faith and confidence in you guys, so I am sure it will be GREAT!!) :thumbsup2

Don't hate me everyone, but I wasn't so impressed with Hojos. We did end up getting the E rate for 2 nights of our last 4 night stay, but I wasn't that impressed with our room.... It was just ok. It actually smelled terribly of smoke and really turned me off. I am not denying that the water park is totally fun and so great for the kids... but it was actually a bit of a hinderance in our trip. When we would head back over to the hotel for some rest after spending much of the morning at the parks, the kids could not resist going to the water park, but I really needed them to rest instead of playing around more... if we were going to make it back over to the park!! Instead I had overly tired kids at night and it was disapointing. I actually don't think I would stay there again.

I have stayed at Desert Palms Inns & Suites, good, lots of room in the room. Would consider again.
Fairfield Inn, really clean, comfy beds, nice linens, good service. Would stay again.
I have stayed at Portofino in a kids suite - we enjoyed that, very clean, large rooms, good for napping/resting.
Next weekend we'll be trying out Best Western Park Place Inn - location, location, location! So, we'll see....

Tropicana! Very close, clean, quiet, nice pool area, small free cont breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay there, and plan to go back.

We stayed at the Hojo in June, and was not impressed either. I know there are a lot of fans of it here, but it wasn't for us.
