we normally go in October and with restriction on taking kids out of school getting harder I just wondered if it's to hot in August to walk round parks or bearable as not sure when to go thanks

It is very hot! Mostly the heat itself is ok but the humidity is a killer! I've been here a little over a week and on a few days it was rainy which made it lovely but today we had 32 degrees with 96% humidity. It makes it pretty horrible at times. However, it is more bearable if you do mornings at the parks and then an afternoon break in the pool or even at one of the nearby resorts and then head back to the parks in the evenings. Good thing about the end of August is that the parks are open later so it's not such of a sacrifice to have a few hours off

Everyone copes with it differently. We have been many times in August and never an issue.
Unfortunately this August we struggled, I don't know if the heat/humidity was worse than previous August's we have been there or just we are getting older and changing but we will try avoid the hottest months in future.

It is hot but not as hot as mid July. It is also very busy but not as busy as mis July. It is expensive more expensive than July and certainly more expensive than October

However for the British school holidays it works. You can easily have 3 weeks late in August and be back for school starting

We have been a fair few times in August its a love or hate month for most folks, we love it as we go last few weeks and it is quieter in parks and also saves a few £££ on flights, plus we have to go in school holidays for DD.

We have been multiple times in August. The rain can be a nuisance but I love the heat and don't mind the humidity. My DS really struggles with it and needs to be in the pool/inside in the hottest part of the day. I think I am unusual in liking it but I also think it's about planning and your headspace. I expect to boil, take it slow enough and know where all the air conditioning is. You have to listen to your body in August. If it's thirsty give it a drink, if it's too hot cool it down and if it's tired and grumpy give it a rest. Do this and I think it's fine.

we had our first taste of Olando, Disney, Universal and I-Drive, from 20th August to 2nd September this year. Yes it was hot, even when it was raining, and it was humid all the time. We did mornings in the parks, afternoons back at base for a rest/dip in the pool, then out again in the evening to the parks and dinner. I'm not going to lie, some parks we were fine in, others we struggled (Epcot world showcase has very little shade outside of the buildings and it felt very very hot walking around there in the daytime).

You can't rush, you have to take your time, find air-con shops and shows for a breather, drink lots of water and take breaks if your body is telling you to. We had a couple of half days/days where we just blew off our plans altogether because we needed a complete break.

Just be aware that you'll feel like a sweaty drippy mess, and you'll be fine!

I think the weather and humidity can affect everyone differently we have been about 5 times now in August and seem to cope with it better each year.... It was hot this year even the locals had a moan, we generally hit parks at RD and then leave by 2pm then return in the evening..

We've been twice in August. This summer seemed much worse than last summer. It's VERY hot and humid, but I can tolerate it fairly well. However, I learned that my family does not. It really affected our overall enjoyment of our trip this year. Next time, we will go in the cooler weather. If we were to go again in the summer, I would be more vigilant about going early every morning, leaving by 12, taking a long afternoon break and returning after 5pm. Also, keep hydrated. Dehydration was an issue for us and we needed much more water than I anticipated. The evenings are actually nice and we enjoyed our time in the parks at night. Animal Kingdom seemed the worst in the heat and we struggled to get through it.

what everyone else has said, it's very hot, but what's truly difficult is the humidity - higher than you thought possible...
most days the humidity is well over 90%....crazy high, making it very uncomfortable (and i say that as someone who lives in an even hotter place than orlando)..
however, we often go in august and find that time of summer not that bad as the parks are not as crowded as the height of summer (july/beginning of august)..

as for the heat, DH, DD, DSIL and i all manage fine in the heat /humidity...
DS and DDIL struggle with it and usually can't make it nearly as long as we can in the parks..

our typical summer strategy when we're on free dining is to take our table service meal in the middle of the day...
we make it a very long, air conditioned meal - often for 2 hours - drinking glass after glass of anything cold...
by the end of lunch we've recovered sufficiently to carry on until dinner...

we're currently planning our next big family trip (all 3 families together)....and it will have to be in the summer as all of the younger generation are tied to the school year. So we have no choice. I figure we'll probably go the middle part of august as those dates work best for us.

so even though some of us struggle in the heat, and if we had a choice, we'd probably pick september for crowds or october for weather, we're going to be there in august and i'm sure we'll have a great time despite the steam bath conditions.
