What is DVC waiting for re: May cancellations?

My condo community has all pools and hot tubs closed right now. It is 90 degrees in CA today. Going to the pool would have been nice when I was done working today. The other communities around me also all have their pools closed too. Watched someone hop the fence for the community across from mine a couple weeks ago to go to their pool.

I have a friend who lives in FL, and the pool at his condo remains open. So, it all depends on the area. I think the restrictions in CA have been more restrictive than FL

Palm Beach, ALL pools here are closed even in developments the HOA's closed them all. I am lucky I have my own pool 🏊‍♂️

Pools closed in Winter Garden, FL (backside of Disney World) as well. I'm sure some associations are more sensitive than others too.

I assume any May trips won't be happening. I went and canceled my June trip. Too stressful for me with all the unknowns.

I guess the picture will (possibly) be a lot clearer on the 30th.......

Does anyone else still have an early May reservation that hasn't been cancelled yet? We have a May 2-7 VGC reservation that is one we rented out and DVC still hasn't cancelled it yet. Rental agency says not to cancel it until they find something for me to rebook. I've seen many people with later reservations say that they've already had them cancelled.
I have one that is checking in on May 2, still not cancelled.

Things are opening up all over the country. I think Disney will be open as soon as it is legal to do so. Sounds like DeSantis is opening Florida next week. I suspect WDW will open in stages, just as they closed in stages. We were originally booked for end of May but rescheduled in case parks were not open or fully open. Just didn’t want to deal.

I finally cancelled my May 2nd reservation myself at the 7 day mark. Interesting thing was that the CM first asked if I wanted to cancel my August 29 reservation.:confused3 I should have asked her why!

Just FYI: My May 10-May 16 reservation has not yet cancelled (it's April 26 as I write this), BUT all my dining reservations (in-park, and in-resort) were cancelled by Disney yesterday (4/25), and my FPes disappeared yesterday, too...so, for those who want to "know"...once dining (including resort restaurants) cancel you can be sure the resorts as well as the parks won't be open...can't see Disney opening resorts w/out opening the restaurants at the resorts~

I think this is a pretty good indicator that they already know they won’t open in May. My bet is June 1 at the earliest. We have a May 22 ressie I’m sure is getting cancelled. Now that I know they’re extending the points I’ve already booked Thanksgiving week as back up.

I’m just marking the days until I get my email as well re: my 5/23 Treehouse res.

We just cancelled our stay for 5/14-5/23, split between BCV & CC cabin. June use year so 676 points expire May 31. They let us carry those expiring points over into next use year, so those 676 points are good til May 31, 2021. If we didn't cancel they would cancel 7 days in advance (Monday through Friday). But since it's a split stay the cancellation would come in two phases - first BCV would cancel 7 days in advance, then days later CC cabin would cancel 7 days in advance. Too much anxiety waiting for official cancellations! We need to make arrangements with work (told our employers last year we would be going on vacation, now we're not), plus the air travel and other arrangements ... Member Services said even if Disney happens to open in mid-May (will never happen but they wouldn't confirm at this point) our expiring points would still carry over into next use year. Our Fast Passes and character meal reservations disappeared in My Disney Experience about 3 weeks in advance. Plus entire month of May is blocked out for any new activity reservations so it's obvious this vacation was not going to happen. Very disheartening after a year of planning but then again considering this pandemic we need to keep it in context and be grateful our health and jobs are still OK!

Did your points show up on the dashboard as extended after cancellation. I'm worried if I self cancel they may not extend them if the parks somehow open end of May. Thanks

After cancelling May reservations with points that expire May 31, the dashboard shows those points are now returned to 2019 use year, still due to expire May 31, 2020. But Member Services said the expired points will roll over into next use year, good til May 31, 2021 and be visible that way in dashboard by June 5th. That's one reason I didn't cancel online - needed to understand and confirm that from MS. Waited in queue 30 minutes to get an agent but it's worth it to double check and be certain points are not forfeited.

Park hours through May 23 are now deleted. I guess it’s all over but the shouting.

If you have a reservation that starts in May and runs into June, please call Member Services and Modify your reservation. Once disney decides to cancel dates in May, the entire reservation is canceled even if they open June 1. We currently are planned for 5/28 thru 6/8. So we modified to 2 reservations, 5/28 to 5/31, and 6/1 to 6/8. that way if May gets canceled we still have the June reservation if they do open 6/1. Hope this make sense.
