Hi, We are planning a trip to DL for March 27-29, 2008 (a long way off I know but we're coming from Australia and I'm trying to plan things now).... Does anyone know when Spring break is.....I think it's around that time but I'm not sure....I'm hoping NOT and wondering if anyone knows how crowded DL is around the end of March?? Also, can anyone tell me what the weather is usually like in LA around then? What types of clothes to be packing? Sad to say I actually grew up and spent most of my life there but having lived away for the past 9 years I just can't remember anything it seems! Many thanks for anyone's help!

I can by no means speak for all schools, but honestly :sad1: I would say that it may be a toss up for schools to hold spring break either the week before your dates, or the week of. The reason being that Easter falls on the 23rd of March this year, and oftentimes spring break coincides with this date. We have gotten to the point though where it seems that spring breaks can fall anywhere in mid-late March, and early-mid April.

I am in Arizona, and while I don't know which schools my kids will be in, I know that the Spring Break would be on one of those two weeks for us.

As for clothes - here is another not so great answer. I would pack everything!!! You will need layers, a light jacket in the morning and evening, and then t-shirts even shorts during the day :confused3

Does anyone know the dates of the "Cheerleading Stuff" that takes place in Anaheim and at DL in March??? I have heard that can be a real problem. Is is really that bad?

We are also planning to come in March b/c that is when we have spring break. Out state (Georgia) has absolutely no impact on crowds at DL but I would suspect that many states have March spring breaks.

OH DRAT!! Somehow I just knew this would be the case.....though didn't know about the cheerleading. Unfortunately we don't have too much choice on when we go as we are going to Vegas for a conference the week of the
17th. Only other option is to maybe fly into LA the week of the 10th and do Disneyland first which DH doesn't really want to do....but now wondering if even going that week would make too much of a difference anyway. We are going with our 4.5 year old DD who at the moment (at 3.8 years) is scared of all rides so unless she changes by then we are mostly going just for her to experience DL itself and see some of the characters etc rather than for all the rides. Maybe a dumb idea but gee, how can you go to LA and NOT go to Disneyland!

We have to go in March also but I am sure that there are some DL experts on these boards that can tell us how to maneuver with the crowds!

Something I can tell you: I went to DL a few years ago in March, and it was really.... comfortable. There weren't many crowds. The lines fairly were short. Alot better than July, I can tell you that much. I went in July one year and had to wait 130 min to ride Inidana Jones:mad: And 90 for Splash and 95 for Space. It was nuts!!!:3dglasses

I'm sure your DD will change her mind about riding rides once she sees how unscary some of them are. I'm sure you'll hit Spring Break crowds, but they're not as bad as summer crowds (especially in terms of the things that you'll probably be after, like character meet and greets). Pack an umbrella and raincoats, just in case.

Thanks everyone! I guess even if there are crowds we will just deal with it.....after all it's more for the experience than anything. I just hope my fav rides when I was a kid are open and not toooooooo long (just in case I can get DD on them).

My family always has gone in march for the last 6 years, and we always find it buisy in one way or anther. If our spring break is a week earlyer than CA's, then the park is almost empty mon-thurs with it getting buisy on fri. Sat n Sun always seem packed. Then if you get the cheerleaders then the park will be nice and calm until 2pm ish then when all of them get out and head to disneyland it will get crowded. But bein a highschool age guy, i cant complain about seein a bunch of cheerleaders around :thumbsup2, cept for the long ride lines after 2pm. Ive seen most major rides easily have 60-90 min wait after 2.Anywho, my spring break never matched up with CA's spring break so i have no idea how bad it would be, though I can imagine it being terrible waits.

No matter what time of year you go, if you use the rules for EE and touring the park in order (see many of hydroguys threads) or spend the minor $15 on ridemax, you can avoid the majority of long lines and people and have a wonderful time even in 3 days....

Busy times of the year just take more planning is all.

So if we have 5 full days available while staying at the GC then we should be able to accomplish most of DL even with the March crowds?

We do WDW 3-4 times per year so we have lots of good "theme park warrior" tactics but we know nothing about DL except that we cant wait to go there!!

We went 3 yrs ago in march (14-18) and the crowds were summer crowds (per a few CM's we spoke to) 2 of the days we were there, they stayed open until midnight during the week due to the crowds (it is what they announced over the PA) last year when we were booking the CM from Disney travel said that there were cheeleaders in the park for 3 of the 4 weekends/weeks in March.

We were in Disneyland from March 22-25 last year (2006) from Wed through Sat. The crowd level was not bad on Wed and Thurs but of course got much more crowded on Fri and Sat. Weather wise it was cool in the mornings and evenings but got rather warm during the day. One night it got rather chilly, in fact it was windy so that might have contributed. The fireworks were canceled that night because of the winds. Oh yeah, we did EE on Thurs and even with EE, the crowds weren't too bad.
