what is DIS Convention????

Hi all,Madmouse here,
I have probably chatted to a lot of you in the chat room before,I was just wondering about this convention thing.
I will be in WDW for the convention,I allready have a pretty packed schedule but would like to possibly meet some of you whilst i am there.Is it possible to just pop in to the convention,to some events or is it all booked beforehand,Does it cost anything or how do i go about it?I know that its held at the swan or dolphin,but are you there all the time or not?I know its a lot of questions but not really sure what goes on at these things,thanks for your help,

Hi Sarah.

Welcome to the convention board. There is a lot of info. regarding the convention and I'm not quite sure where to start.

If you read WebmasterPete's thread, you will find a lot of important info.

The convention is a paid event. There are 2 different packages that were originally offered....the first being a hotel package and the second being the events-only package (for people who wanted to make their own hotel accomidations). At the present time, unless we have reached our cap of 300 attendees, they are only accepting registration for the hotel package.

There will be a lot of mini meets that are scheduled before, during and after the official convention events. These are open to any DIS'er. I would recommend that you try to schedule some time to meet up with DIS'ers during these mini meets.

I'm not sure if I answered all of your questions, but feel free to ask again if I didn't.

Just check out our itineraries (sp?) and you can see that many of us are doing things called mini meets that are both official and unofficial. If you post the exact dates that you are there, I'm sure one of us can direct you as to what's going on, or if you happen to have some free times. Some of the mini meets like the Dole Whip, and some of the pin trading shouldn't take up too much time out of your busy schedule.

Feel free to come here even if you don't get to sign up for the DIS CON, you can see some of the things that is scheduled and join in our excitement for our trip.

Hi, Madmouse, we'd love to have you join us. If you read Pat's post with the complete itinerary, you can get an idea of what's going on during the convention. As everyone has said, some of the events are included in the convention packages most of us have already paid for. But, there are LOTS of mini meets that will be open to everyone. The headquarters for the convention is the Yacht Club, instead of the Swan/Dolphin. Althought a lot of DIS'ers are staying at the Swan and Dolphin resorts, too. Hope we've been able to answer some of your questions. Feel free to ask, if you have more.
