What is considered a great rate at any of the Disneyland hotels? I'm specifically referring to Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier, and Grand Californian only.

I guess to put more context to it... what is the best $/night rate you've ever gotten on one of the hotels, and which hotel was it?

Rates go up over time and fluctuate depending on season. It doesn't matter what rate people have gotten in the past.

For the bottoms I wouldn't expect less than

PPH at 150
DLH at 200
GCH at 350

You can get the best rates by being a senior, in the military or an AP holder. Regular guests can get better rates by booking through some third party sites and using the special offers like 30, 35, 20% off from thw WDTC itself.

Ski is right on those figures, but I'll actually add that I haven't seen less than $162 or so for PPH and that's with an AP. A good price is more like $180 or so with an AP discount. I can't remember less than $214 for DLH with my AP. I never really check GCH lol. Also remember whatever price you find with an AP rate or online, there is still 17% tax and a $15 per night parking charge, so include that in your budget.

Good info on the tax. No worries about parking though... we'll just take the free Magical Express bus to/from the airport.

No such thing at Disneyland. You pay your own way to and from the airport.

Just to clarify. WDW in Florida has free ME bus service. California does not.

Hope there aren't other things you are expecting in CA that you are used to in FL. Would be a good idea to read the thread that show what a WDW vet can expect at DL/DCA parks.

I have checked everywhere for DLH in August and $400 is the rate...ouch..

I have been to DL a few times before and have taken the bus service. I must have forgotten that it was a paid service.

You just never know. I got a rate of $140/night for PPH for Jan 18-21 (coming up). They don't offer that rate anymore, though--I got it through Expedia about a month ago after reading about it on DIS. I already had a reservation for $160/night, which I thought was good, but $140 is even better :rotfl:. That was not an AP rate, btw.

I've gotten some really good rates but you have to keep looking and be ready to commit when you find one. I've also paid a lot because there weren't any good rates for the times I needed them.

Wow. Way to go, DizMe! :thumbsup2

I was going to say I got $156 at PP in Feb. I believe there are still some dates available at that rate on the AP page. Perhaps to the general public, too; I don't know.

When I read things like this, I consider myself extremely lucky since I was able to have a $214 rate total for GCH at my first trip to DL (Sept 2010).
We were hoping to find something similar for our next trip but now I know that was once in a lifetime opportunity!! Now I'll stick to HoJo.:thumbsup2

There is some type of service from airport to hotel (roundtrip) that you can pay for. Don't think it's called magical express, but we made that reservation for our trip later this month. I think it's around $30/person, round trip. It's sort of like Mears Transportation, but called something different.

Disneyland Resort Express, operated by Grayline.

The best GCH we got was $205 - it was soon after September 11th and travel was way down.

During off-season (kids in school), I've seen GCH standard rooms go as low as $200/night. Best price we've paid at the GCH was $254/night during the summer of 2010

I got a rate of about 160 for PPH in feb, it was part of a package through Costco. Costco packages end up getting booked through Disney, so whatever deals Disney has going will be reflected (35 percent off, or winter package deal). But there were some extras also (FP, gift card, character meal). Hope it turns out ok. I was advised to ask for an upgrade at check in. Should I expect to pay for something like that?

That's a really good deal!! Sometimes Costco packages are a great way to go. If you or any of your party have ap's, you can call them and have the ticket part of the cost removed from the package and still get the character meal etc. You can also use the meal vouchers at almost ANY restaurant in the resort--doesn't have to be used for a character meal. There is a value on the voucher and that's what it's good for. You can also use it to pay the tip!
