I'm old enough to remember seeing grocery stores in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) looking like this. Ah memories...We went by Sam's to get some bacon and cat litter. Here are the meat cases. We were going to grab some hamburger. Maybe next time. I didn't look down the TP isle, but the racks with bottled water were nearly empty.

@Carol_ ,I'm old enough to remember seeing grocery stores in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) looking like this.
I'm just referring to the empty shelves, My host father in Leningrad showed me a wad of cash in his pocket and he explained he had lots of money but there was nothing to buy in the stores. TP was a major problem there, too, as I recall. We had to pack our own. Moscow on the Hudson was a good depiction.@Carol_ ,
My son is from Kharkov, Ukraine. 2nd largest city in Ukraine and The "grocery" stores there were quite different. Reminded me of 1940's America. Think Mayberry RFD. We were there after Ukraine gained its independence and they were trying hard to "Westernize".

We were warned about the TP. We packed our own. And we were put up in an apartment that was also very 1940'ish. Comfortable though.TP was a major problem there, too, as I recall. We had to pack our own. Moscow on the Hudson was a good depiction.
For some reason (I suspect the black market) everybody had vodka.
Illinois just did the same thing.Ohio has now mandated all bars to close.
A lot of stuff except the strip clubs... Laugh out loud.... It's a joke... We need a laughCT going to announce mandatory bar, restaurant, etc closing as well... expect same with p/u and delivery ok. Heard MA announced this tonight as well.
My neighbor is a branch manager at a bank. She told me people are coming in droves trying to get all their $ out in cash. Also people are refinancing their house to get some cash or lower their payments in case their job/business cease to exist.![]()
