What is close by?

I have read that Walgreens is close by the US resort but what else is? What stores and restaurants?

Not too far...its on Turkey Lake Road...around four miles South of Universal. Definitely not walking distance.

I should have added that we will have a car. But I do what something close by to get a couple toiletries instead of packing them. (toothpaste, conditioner and so on) Plus we might need something little for breakfast for our first morning since we will most likely be going IOA for early entry and RPR Club Level does not serve breakfast till 7:30 we are hoping to be lined up by then.

Is it really that far? We noticed it from the freeway while leaving Universal, and it seemed like it was *right* after the onramp we had just taken to the highway...

Yeah...it's just past the intersection of Turkey Lake and Sand Lake Roads (going South from Universal) and it's fairly new. I think it's only been there for two years or so. You would have seen it off of I-4 since Turkey Lake Road runs parallel to the interstate.

probably walgreens (near pbh) which has a store near it that also sells spirits.

I agree with Mac...Walgreens sells spirits and if you wanted a wider selection, there is an ABC store up the street next to Publix in the Kirkman Oaks Shopping Center. It's quite a walk though.

I forgot that stores like Walgreens can sell limited alcohol products in FL.

I think that Publix you described is the one we hit when we have a rental car and stay at DVC! That would be a bit too far to walk.

if you took a taxi to that store and back, it would not be bad on the costs.
much cheaper doing that even with the added expense than buying drinks at the hotel/pool area.....or city walk.....

Can anyone give walking directions from the front entrance (or whichever entrance would be most efficent) of PBH to the Walgreens? How long a walk is it at a moderate pace?
Also wondering if perhaps they sell small, foam coolers or something similar?

Thinking we could put in some ice from the machines (assuming PBH has ice machines?) and kept a few cold drinks and/or milk in the room. We are staying club so maybe could get milk/juice the day before and have it on hand before the day(s) we do early entry.

i'm trying to pull up the map that shows the walk way to walgreens from pbh.

i tried a search on the threads, but lucked out.


next to the walgreens on Kirkman is a liquor store.
walgreen has limited items they can sell on spirits.

for everything else, it is the place to go.
orlando is a tourist town.
walgreens is as good as it gets when you don't have a car and have to walk about 10 minutes to this store.


i know damo and someone else posted that walkway map before.



i'll go yell at metro and see if he can find it for you.

and if we find it, it should be a sticky.

we should make maps for lots of these places ...........
but, it would only work if peeps read the stickies....

The Walgreens is within walking distance of the PBH and they have a liquor store attached. Not a big deal to walk (we had to a time or two) and you can save a ton of $$.

There is a walking path from the Villa Pool that leads to the main road (sorry, I forget the name), you take a right, and you'll see the Walgreens on the corner.

I can't find the map but I can show you. Go to googlemaps.com and type in Walgreens 5501 South Kirkman Road, Orlando, FL

Then zoom in and you can see how it is right behind PBH. You can see the employee parking lot and the entrance to it. You can also see the walking path from the employee parking lot to the side of the hotel This is the route I would take.
