What is allowed?

Can someone here please help me understand?

What sort of threads can we start here on the Community Board?

I know we have to stay away from things like politics and religion.

But is there a DIS rule that prevents us from starting a thread about something going on in our lives?

Can someone give me some examples of a thread that would be "allowed" and one that would not be "allowed?"

I have followed many threads that were "personal" here...about people's personal journey's through difficult illness or personal triumph's.

I have followed threads about teenage pregnancy (personal) and TV shows (pointless - ok, not really - I love TV!).

So what is OFF limits?

Politics and Religion are banned.

You can't personally attack another poster.

I believe anything else is fair game.

No politics/religion. Avoid replying to threads with common sense, as that can be construed as a personal attack 25% of the time. Don't question moderation or management. Don't restart a banned/closed topic.

Other than that, post about anything. Just know that threads regarding moral issues, hours of operation at Disney, taking your kids out of school for Disney, asking for honest advice, complaining about bad gifts etc. can all get nasty!

You might take a look at the rules for the site to find out what isn't allowed-posts asking for donations, promoting personal businesses, profanity, etc.

Then why was my friend's thread closed yesterday?

She was not talking about religion? Or politics?

She was just sharing the joy of having a baby and putting it here so that all of her friends on the DIS can follow her journey?

I have seen similar threads?

I thought this was the Community Board so that we could post for our DISer friends things that have nothing to do with Disney?

I am just trying to understand the rules.

That is what I thought?

Ok, that was just funny! :rotfl:

And I am not trying to reopen a banned topic...I really want to know what the rules are?

I actually checked those this morning and didn't see anything that would prevent what I was referring to.

Email the webmaster that closed the thread with your question. I believe she gave her reason in the post she made though so I'm not sure what more information there is for you. I don't think we can help.

Ain't that the truth.:rotfl:

This is a very good idea!

I will head over there.

I think I can find it. I am not sure who it was??

If it's the thread I saw, it would be the last poster who gave the reason for closing it. Was it a pregnancy thread? Maybe we aren't talking about the same thing.

Done! Thank you so much. I should have done that to begin with.

As the OP - my question has been addressed to the right person - so my use for this thread is done.

Thanks for your help!

That is the thread.

I don't want to restart the topic without the permission from the mod - that is not my intention here - but I would like to understand why the topic would not be allowed on the Community board in general?

Nevermind how confused I was that it was closed because people were opening the thread, reading it and posting that they didn't want to open and read it? Is that totally confusing to anyone else? :confused3

Agreed.

I believe the points made were (a) the individual topic/journey/thread was more suited for a personal blog and (b) there is already a group thread for Moms-to-be, where MANY pregnant DISers are sharing their journeys with each other and with other interested readers - and that the poster who started the now-closed thread was directed there.

Can we start a forum for people who only have negative things to say too? Not saying anyone on this thread is like that, but there are people out there who are negative nellies.

So, topics that are more "blog" type are not supposed to be on the community board? But I have read lots of threads that were personal journey threads?

I am really confused.

There is another one like that....Baby flauntelroy or something like that.

Well, I guess they are allowed, so maybe they will let TK's be opened back up. If TK even wants to open back up. But I am glad that they are allowed. That brings the "community" into the Community Board. :thumbsup2

Yeah..I'm confused too...pregnancy blogs aren't my type of thing, so I just don't read those types of threads. But I don't see why some posters can have one and others can't.:confused3
