What is a "Signature Meal?"

Several people on here have mentioned "signature meals." What is a signature meal? I've eaten at many of the restaurants during my several visits to Walt Disney World, and usually enjoyed the experience; but I guess I've missed all of these special meals.

Thanks.

Signature Meal = 1/2 the food at 2x the price

There are several "Signature" restaurants at WDW...the so-called "Fine Dining Experiences." You'll need to use 2 TS credits to dine at these restaurants if you're on the DDP.

Can you tell I'm not a "foodie?" I personally prefer a huge portion of "normal" foods at a lower price, but many people are very excited by these signature restaurants.

I would disagree, but only because I do consider myself a foodie, and love fine dining. Sure, the signature restaurants are more expensive, but there's no denying that the food is superior to any regular TS restaurant. Altogether, the signatures are a "fine dining" experience-ambiance, menu, etc. However, someone who does not enjoy experiences like this, and prefers "normal" food (not quite sure what that is) would probably consider a signature restaurant unnecessary. For me, they are always included in my stays at WDW!

I just got scolded by my wife for using this term. I'm supposed to say, "a meal at a signature restaurant." The restaurant is "signature" -- not the meal! :) When she's right, she's right. :thumbsup2

The finer restaurants do tend to serve more reasonable (smaller) portions, so that part of what formernyer said is true. These restaurants are truly wonderful, world-class restaurants, and hold their own for anyone who is a true gourmand or "foodie". They're probably not the right place to go if you're looking for a Bennigans or TGIFridays.

I do a mixture of "normal" restaurants and "signature" restaurants.

I have to say, the food is better at the signature restaurants. So far, I have not yet noticed any decrease in portions. When I went to Artist Point I was stuffed beyond capacity--as much as I got stuffed at Kona Cafe. The only exception are the buffets where you can get the "hog trough" special and go on for hours....

When the dining plan was designed, a group of restaurants was classified as "signature restaurants". They cost 2 credits rather then one per person. They are considered the top dining experiences at WDW by many. My personal favorites are Yachtsman Steakhouse and Flying Fish.

Some of the restaurants are: Yachtsman Steakhouse, Jiko, Flying Fish, Calif. Grill, Artist Point, Narcoossee's, Citrico's. I may be missing one or two.

The only one you missed was Hollywood Brown Derby.
