Just wondering what is considered a good rate? I am willing to pay a year or two up front when my two month free trial is up if it isn't too expensive.

Thanks!

I got mine for $108.00 for one year. I think you can do a little better. This is the basic, No Howard Stern.

If you call & tell them you want to cancel because it is too expensive, they will start wooing you with low priced deals. I think the $25 for six months is about the best deal you'll be offered. Then, in six months, tell them you want to cancel again & do this dance with them all over again. They are absolute pigs at SiriusXM with how much they try to price gouge people. I would never pay them anything ahead of time. They only act financially civil when they are about to lose your business.

You always pay ahead...or you don't get any service. :rotfl:

OP, I paid around $80 for my most recent 12 month subscription, I think. Somewhere between $80 and $90. :)

I called to tell them I was canceling (got a bill for $173 - that wasn't going to happen). They gave me five months for $25. I will have to call back later this year and go through that stupid scenario again.

Our 6 months for $25 is up in a week.

I would LOVE to just say to the retention person - let's just save both of us some time..."hit me up for 1-year, for $90, to include all fees and all taxes".

The thing about Sirius, DH loves it, and I could care less about it. And I am the one who handles this bill. It is the ONLY one I handle. Probably takes just as much time to manage this bill...compared to the rest that DH handles.:rotfl2

I'm on the same plan! Every time it comes up for renewal, they try to bill me regular price, I tell them I'm not paying more than $5 a month and they give in. Stupid game. I don't listen to it much, it's really not worth any more.

At my renewal time in October the bill was $180 or something crazy for the year. So I called to cancel. They haggled with me and finally gave me $25 for 5 months. When that was up they automatically charged my credit card $50 some dollars. I called to cancel (to haggle) and ended up canceling they called me last week and offered $25 for 6 months. But I really think that when it's done I will cancel. I hate having to haggle all the time to keep it.

Mine expired the day we were driving 19 hours to Orlando for Spring Break in March....DH called to get it reactivated and it was crazy expensive....so we said heck no!!! Last week we got the yellow envelope in the mail offering 6 months for $25 so I have it again. I love it and listen to it all the time and really missed it on the road trip..but I'm not paying a crazy amount for it.

How can you get a good rate if you had a trial on a car you bought and it has already expired? I really miss it!!

our 6 month free trial was set to expire in a few weeks. we got an offer in the mail but it was only for the basic plan so after looking at their website I called to see what kind of deal we could get the all access for. we ended up settling on $9.99 per month with a year contract.

I also do the call every five months and tell them I'm cancelling deal too. Last time it was $25 for 5 months. They tried to get me at $108+taxes for a year and I said that was too much, then they tried $56 for six months and I told them no, that's basically the same $9 a month rate. Just cancel it. "Oh, let me see if I can get you the rate you had last time", put me on hold and came back with the $25 deal again. OK. So, yeah, I was on the phone with her for about 20 minutes taking care of this one bill.

My DD's car had Sirius. She had 7 months free and then it cut off, we never heard a thing from Sirius about renewing her car. She's now had the car for 18 months and they finally sent a letter. No deals, just the $14.99 a month. I may end up calling them at some point. She hasn't missed having it all that much.

My free trial ended yesterday and I want to renew, but not at the prices listed on their site. What packages were you all getting for the $25 for 6 months? I'm interested in the XM select. Thanks!

I refuse to pay more that $5 a month (plus fees).
Their regular rate is $14.95 a month.
When your free months are over, let it lapse and wait for them to invite you back. Wait until they send you an invite with a deal. Once you've gotten the deal (Right now I think it's $25 for five months), you'll have to call at the end of the five months and tell them you want to cancel. They try to get you to come back at a higher rate, keep telling them that's more than you want to pay until they come to a deal you can live with (for me, like I said, it's got to be around $5). Last time I called they offered me two rates (one year and six months) that both came out to about $9 a month. I kept at it until I got the lowest rate.

It's not a fun process, but I don't want to pay more than I'm willing. And I'm ready to give it up and just use CDs and broadcast radio if they don't come down. (Hasn't been a problem yet in 7 years).

Well, if their regular rate is $14.95 per month, I guess that's what I'm paying. It's worth it to me. When my free trial expired about two years ago, I got some good discounted offer for either six months or a year, and then let them automatically renew at their standard rate. For me, it's not worth the hassle of threatening to cancel or negotiating every six months. I suppose I SHOULD check my credit card statement to see what they're actually charging.

Even at standard rates, Sirius is a bargain compared to my outrageous cable/internet and cell phone bills.
