What is a good brand of sunscreen?

A silly question........I want to tan on our cruise. Can you tan well through sunblock? Also.......where can you find this Bull Frog? I haven't noticed it anywhere here. TIA

I beleive you can tan through sun block...but you may not want a real high SPF...BUT if you start with NO tan...and are real pale...you'll want to tan slowly...or you'll burn.

I've found bull frog at wal mart, target and rite aid...I beleive there was also a link above posted on bull frog and ordering it...(I could be wrong...cuz I didn't really check the link)

Another Bull Frog Quick Gel 36 user here. It is pretty potent in terms of smell when you put it on, so we usually use one of the Coppertone Sports for our faces. I can stand the Bull Frog for my face, but the wife and kids steer clear of it on their faces!

Bull Frog also makes a "Quik Stick" SPF 36 that I use on the kids faces and ears (goodness don't forget those ears!!)

The kids bull frog is great and I love the spray on.
I used to swear by 'Lil Gator but can't find it anywhere anymore (it's made by Aloe Gator) I prefer the ease of the spray on bull frog now and the stick, but if I could find that Gator for the kids again I'd buy it in a second.

In the July issue of Redbook they have an article on sunsreens. I read it at the pool yesterday. As I have stated I have super sensitive skin. I tend to break out either with a heat rash or from the sunscreen itself due to alcohol and other ingredients. This article helped me to understand why I might be breaking out. Not only do I have sensitive skin I am really fair. Meaning I do not tan. Never have and never will. In this article it explains the higher the spf the more chemicals are in the ingredients. Common sense will tell you this, but I have never thought once about it. The more chemicals the more chances of your having a reaction.

Ocean Potion can be hard to find. It is a fair inexpenseive sunsreen. I love the 30 spf sport but it is really hard to find. I bought the 30 spf Anti aging this year. It goes on very easily and stays on for a while. If you are not in the water you can use one application for the entire day. We did at Disney 3 weeks ago and never once burned. I have bought it at Wal-Mart and also at Food Lion.

Although I have never used Bull Frog I have seen it for years at Wal-Mart.

We really like the Coppertone Sport continuous spray as well. There is no rubbing in. It is easy to apply by yourself even on your back, but it might not be as much fun!!! Kids don't mind as much either.

DH is a red head and will burn walking from the house to the car. Well, not that bad, but close!!!! This is one of the very few that he didn't burn at all with!!!! I have only seen in SPF 30, but it works awesome!!!

Will the airlines let you pack this? It looks like an aerosol spray. When we flew last time, they specifically looked at my hairspray which was a pump style bottle. When I asked why, they said I couldn't not take aerosol cans. This was in my checked luggage.

Anyone know???

I just bought this for DS(9). It works great down here in the intense FL sun. Spraying is SOOOOO much easier than rubbing it in, no scratchy sand mixed with the lotion. The only thing you don't want to spray is your face. They suggest you spray it into your hands and put it on that way.

Where can you buy Bull Frog at? I have never seen it! Also Ocean Potion, never heard of that either.

Thanks Jsme about the heat rash info, I have gotten that before and never realized it could be from the lotion.

I like to use Neutrogena Healthy Defense Oil-Free Sunblock Spray, SPF 30 which contains Avobenzone. It does not dry as quickly or spray as evenly as the Bull Frog. It also has a citrus scent that some might not like. But, I find it much easier to apply than a lotion and it provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

Not sure where I read this but I hear that Rit Sunscreen (like Rit Dye) is good for sunscreening (is that a word ) your clothes. We will be snorkeling whenever possible so I am going to sunscreen wash our Tshirts (cheaper than Lycra Skins) and bathaing suit cover ups. There is nothing worse than a burned back from snorkeling.
