I sure it might have been asked before, but we are DH, DS(age 2) and me, staying at AKV just wondering where should we eat? I want to hit at least 1 meal with some characters, but not a princess one LOl,

IDEAS PLEASE? With some info why we must go there??

Thanks

Crystal Palace has pretty good food at breakfast, and offers the Winnie the Pooh characters. The selection of food is great (including some fantastic fresh fruit), the theming is very nice, and the characters are a lot of fun.

Also worth trying is the Garden Grill (dinner), with Chip 'n' Dale (and Mickey, Goofy, and the gang). It's served family style at your table, which may be more manageable than a buffet with a two year old.

I'll stop there, since I don't know what you'd like to do otherwise as far as dining. Did you want buffets? Noisy places such as Whispering Canyon and 50s Prime Time? Places with more emphasis on theming rather than food such as Sci-Fi? Adult-oriented places like California Grill?

Donald's Breakfast at Tusker House. I love a good breakfast buffet and it has our favorite characters.

The Ohana breakfast was a big hit with my kids on previous visits. The food is great and it features Lilo & Stitch.

I do Boma every trip for breakfast and dinner. Love the variety!

At Epcot, Sunshine Seasons is great if everyone wants something different. If you don't like the menu items in each pod, check the coolers located in between, they contain sandwiches and sushi. At the far end is a great bakery.

I loved Crystal Palace with Pooh and Friends especially because we got an ADR before the park opened and were able to take some awesome pictures of the park. O'hana with Lilo, Stitch, Pluto, and Mickey was a lot of fun and the food was really good. Boma was our favorite buffet, and there are lots of options for kids.

I agree, Crystal Palace is a family fav of ours as well. Another reason: it has a lot of natural light inside for great pictures.

We loved the 1900 Park Fare breakfast. It was a lot of fun and they had great characters!

Excellent choices are:

1. Crystal Palace breakfast (Winnie the Pooh characters)
2. Chef Mickey's, either breakfast or dinner (the classic 5 characters)
3. Sanaa (at Animal Kingdom Villas...my sons loved seeing the animals there, and they are 3 and 5!)
4. Biergarten (Germany at Epcot...delicious German buffet, child-friendly choices, excellent entertainment too! This is my favorite restaurant at WDW and my kids love it there too!)
5. 1900 Park Fare breakfast (excellent food; Mary Poppins, Alice, the Mad Hatter, Tigger & Pooh were there in July)
6. Cape May Cafe breakfast (Minnie, Goofy & Donald dressed in beach attire)
7. Kona Cafe dinner (food is excellent, the Polynesian is beautiful, and it's kid-friendly)
8. Kouzzina dinner (excellent Mediterranean and Greek food; kid-friendly)
9. Chefs de France lunch (we saw Remy from the movie "Ratatouille"; he is not there on Sundays so keep that in mind; food was excellent)
10. San Angel Inn lunch (the kids loved watching the boat ride pass by; food was delicious; margaritas were beyond fantastic and amazing, and VERY strong!)

I know, I know...I gave you way too many choices! But my kids enjoyed all of the above places, and we would go back to all of them in a heartbeat!!! :goodvibes

Ditto 'Ohana Character Breakfast.... and I've been there about 4x with kids with varying ages....

I've seen little ones - practically babies up to 15 year olds enjoy the antics, parades, mariachis, etc...

Love 'Ohana Character Breakfast !

I definitely recommend Donald's Safari Breakfast at Tusker House. This was one of the highlights of our trip this past June. There are plenty of good food choices and great character interaction.
As far as dinners go, I would recommend The Wave at CR, Turf Club at SSR, and Boma at AKL. For a good counter service, Sunshine Seasons in Epcot would be my choice.

I'm going to add another vote for Crystal Palace. We're just back from WDW and that was our favorite character breakfast. The food was great and the character interaction was wonderful!

While it doesn't have any characters a can't miss for us is breakfast at Kona. We go there at least twice.. everyone in my family loves it!

crystal palace in MK is always good with the pooh characters. Ohana is good for breakfast, it's not a buffett but a family style breakfast (not sitting with other famlies thankfully lol) with lilo, stich, mickey in a hawaiian shirt, and pluto. There's also the back yard bbq at fort wilderness. Chef Mickey's is very very kid friendly and the food is good.

Hollywood and vine is also good, we went a few years ago and there was june and another little einstine and jojo and his lion (blanking on the name). I heard now handy manny and oso are there or are coming there. 1900 park fare for breakfast has mary poppins and alice and others

I love all these great ideas, i wrote down a few to make some reservations at - Thanks!

What about a good place to have a great steak?! DH loves steaks?
Also any good food that I should look for at AKL?

Thank you

50's prime time cafe seems to be the one we visit everytime we're at WDW now. We've been 4 times and have never had a bad meal there. It's also a very fun place. There are no characters but it feels like you're back in the 70's and eating in your grandmothers kitchen or something. :goodvibes

We've always tried to get Le Cellier as well but the hype is overrated. The last time we ate there it wasn't that "fantastic".

We personally like 1900 Park Fare (character meal) and our favorite used to be Chef Mickey's when Mickey came to the tables.

Enjoy your trip!

Thank you

AKL has *all* good food! :cool1:

Boma is a terrific buffet

Sanaa is the newest 1 credit restaurant, Indian/African themed food

Jiko is the Signature dining experience, and it's gotten nothing but rave reviews!

AKL probably has the best dining options in all of Disney World! :thumbsup2

Probably the best steaks on property are at Shula's, which is located in the Walt Disney World Dolphin hotel near Epcot. It is not Disney-owned, so does not participate in the dining plan. But the steaks are very good!

If you want to stick within Dining Plan restaurants, Yachtsman Steakhouse offers a nice variety of good steaks. It's located at the Yacht Club resort, which is also near Epcot. But it requires 2 TS credits if you're on the dining plan, because it is a Signature restaurant.
