What is a better RSR strategy?

We are OK with them going on the ride alone if they're OK with it, just don't want them in the line alone or standing alone waiting for us, but like I said onlly if they're OK. It just seems like the only option if they want to ride that ride since we will not wait for hours in the regular line and we dont' want to get there at 7am to just get in line for FP. This would be the only ride we woudl do that for if the lines are crazy. Otherwise we just won't ride it. I saw the youtube ride through and there is no way I'm waiting for hours for this ride. I guess it will all come down to the single rider thing and if she is willing to go alone. I do want to go on all the rides with my kids, but this is an exception.

Ah, but they could get stuck on the ride alone.
With as often as the ride is breaking down, this is a very good possibility. But at 7, as long as they are confident enough to handle getting walked off a ride, they should be fine. They aren't technically alone, as there will be the other riders, and the CMs who will escort the group off. But I would want to make sure they could handle 15-20 mins without parental supervision.

Why would there be 15 - 20mins.? I thought the ride was like 4 1/2 mins. wrong? With loading and unloading and one parent on each end, that seems like a long time. Maybe 15 - 20mins. would be too long for me to have her alone. I though if one went they would be there for them after and one would be there when they go. Maybe I'm just not understanding properly???

Just referring to if there was a breakdown when they were on the ride. Then there may be a significant wait before getting off the ride.

I see. I don't really like that idea either, so I guess we will just have to see if the line is ever a decent wait in September, or we skip it, no biggie:)

Your spouse gets on the ride, 2-3 mins later your child is loaded, 2 mins later your spouse is off, you haven't loaded yet, and the ride breaks down. Your 7yo is out on the track. First they will work on restarting the ride. Once they have determined the ride won't restart, they will begin unloading the ride. This can take some time as they do it one car at a time. and have to walk the track. As long as your child isn't a nervous child and can follow directions from other adults, it shouldn't be a problem. Remember, when you do single rider with a child, plan for the unexpected.

Good info. I think we will play it by ear, but I don't really like the idea of her being alone for that long. I guess we will just see when the time comes if she is ready or not.
Thanks for the help:)

I am planning to go there on one of the days that hotel guests get in an hour early. That means I would be let in at 7am, correct?

The fp line doesn't open until 8 but do people start lining up at 7am or do most people just go try to ride the ride?

Thanks for all of your helpful advice!

I am also wondering this. Also why wouldn't the fast passes be given out starting at 7:10am if that is when the park opens to hotel guests?

Just like Space Mountain during EE, FP machines turn on when the parks open to day guests.

Because DLR does not give out FPs until regular park hours start. Only exception used to be Soarin Over Calif except in that case the FP machines were open to everyone.

Has anyone been in early admission? If so... do you just get in line for FP? When do early people start lining up for FP?

Yikes.....

The line didn't really start forming until about 740a on the days I was there. I mean there were a few people in it, but even those who joined at 755a were getting 9am returns.

oh ok, WHEW! Good to know!

Oh I guess because as long as you are in line before they let in the other people at 8 you're ok, right?

Panicked for a minute there!!! Thank you!!!

We are going to be there Aug 4/5 and staying at the Grand Californian. We can't get in before 8am as we only have a 2 day hopper (we leave the 5th eve). We plan on heading straight to RSR to get a FP. Do we have a shot at getting a FP for before 5pm? (we have a 7pm reisservation at Blue Bayou).

Thanks,

Kevin and Mona

My understanding is that if you are staying onsite, you don't need a 3+ day parkhopper for EE. You should qualify.

You can get into EMH if staying at the GCH.

See "Early Admission (MM/EMH/APEE) Super Thread" by DLR29 www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1675403

She would be able to use early entry for Disneyland those days due to staying onsite, but not DCA for the RSR fastpasses which she was referring to, as those dates are a Saturday and Sunday. (Unless they change the rules and make everyday early entry for guests before that date)

I would follow Hydroguy's plan. That should work for you to get two rides.
Single rider line was usually closed when I saw it as it was so long.

We were going to do the same thing but RSR was broke down the morning we were there. got in line at 8:10 (couldn't find the line because it was so long and I didn't realize that's what it was - first timer). Was in line for 30 min and our FP time was for 6pm.
We only got to ride once since it broke down several times. Oh well. It was fun.
I did want to all ride together at least one time because the picture at RSR is included on PPP and it's a fun one.

You definitely have a shot if you get in as soon as you can. I didn't have early entry either, but you still wantto be at the entry gate by 7:15am. They'll let you into the park by 7:30 where you can get into line for FPs even though they won't distribute them until 8am. Just by being near the front of the regular entry line you'll be fine. I got mine by 8:15am and the return was for 11:30ish if I recall. So you should be fine for your reservation at 7pm.

Thanks,

Sounds like we should be fine. If the Lutz rumor about Disney Hotels getting EMH every day comes true we should be even better.

Kevin
