What is a basic budget for a trip to Disney World?

Wow- A whole lot more information is needed before anyone could even attempt to answer that question. For instance:
How many people are going, and how many are children?
Where are they traveling from?
What type of resort (Value, Moderate, Deluxe, offsite...)
How many days will the group be at WDW?
Etc... You get the idea.

...what time of year? If you're flexibile, Disney offers promotions at different times of year which can save you money. Then there are their 'seasons', with 'value' season being the least expensive. On site or off?

We'll all help you if you give us more info.

4 nights POFQ with AAA discount 536.44
7 nights WL with general public discount 1567.16
Rental car (8 days, full size through Dollar) 180.72
Estimating 1000 for food (some TS, some CS, and breakfast foods in the room)

Estimated total: 5824.32

I have $430 in rewards from our Disney Visa that I will use for souvenirs (will probably buy some of our food with them, too, as I don't need $430 worth of Disney souvenirs), so I didn't include that in the estimated total since it was free money. The kids have their own spending money so we won't be buying souvenirs for them.

We are going September 13-27 during free dining and for 4 adults at Pop Century non prefered room with 10 day park hopper tickets with water parks and more option it cost us $2900.00. Airfare for us from BWI to Orlando is looking to be around $208 per person round trip. We will be using Disney's Magical Express Service. If we were not getting the dining plan for free and wanted that option it would cost us an additional $2100.00 bringing the total to around $5000.00 for 14 nights plus airfare.

Last year we spent an additional $600 on souvenirs. We probably spent more because it was our first trip to Disney World and at the time we thought it could very likely be our last trip for financial reasons.

We had the dining plan last year as well and did not pay any additional money OOP for any of our food. We went in April and spent $2000.00 for 8 nights non prefered room and 9 days at Pop Century. This included a 9 day park hopper pass with water parks fun and more- which was free with the disney promotion as well as the basic dining plan. Flights for 2 adults and a 2 year old child was around $800.00 bringing our total to $2800.00 plus souvenirs. We booked through AAA as well therefore getting a little bit more of a discount than direct through disney.

Hope this helped and good luck planning.

Booked With expedia for 2 at pop with airfare from the bahamas $725
Rental car with promo for the week $130
4 day park hoppers. $514.00
$1000 for spending.

$2369.00

It can vary so greatly
Last time we went POR - DDP - Park Hopper - airfare - 10 days- everything around $5000 - which is comparable to PP's here. You can go for less if you stay at a value resort - don't park hop - and don't get DDP - and never eat at Character restaurants or other TS's. It's even cheaper to stay offsite - but we like staying on and getting DDP for the full DIsney experience.

We are going again to the Poly - 2 weeks - Concierge level - that will be $18000. (this is a trip that is 5 years planning/saving w/ no other vacations)

What's a budget for a car. You can get into a used car for a few hundred bucks. You can also, of course, spend tens of thousands. I think the same is true for Disney vacations.

If it's any help, I figure we usually spend around $5k, with a breakdown something like...

$800 - Condo at Windsor Hills
$400 - Rental car
$1000 - Park Tickets for 4
$1200 - Airfare for 4
$1000 - 1500 - Food & Spending cash

8 days 7 nites, (split room only and then pkg) base plus tix for 3 adults, moderate resort, free dining for 5 days only, air NY to mco 2800, plus about 700 for "other stuff" food not covered, so about 3500 this trip, not too bad!

I have spent $789 for 3 airline tickets including the cost for reserving seats together and the insurance from Rochester NY, $1894 for room, tickets, dining plan..so for $2683 three of us will be at Disney for 7 days:) I pretty much don't plan this trip to bring souveniers home to everyone so I may just use the dollars on my Disney reward card...

3 adults (my son is 12) and 1 child from Long Island MacArthur to MCO

6 nights/7 days:

Airfare: $1116
Package of 6 nights at Pop, 6 day hoppers with Dining Plan on AAA discount $2206
Total before any shopping or extras - $3322 and that's only 2 meals a day with the dining plan.

Been using my Disney Visa like an American Express and have accumulated (before the new statement) $80 in Disney money since the account was opened in March. We are hoping to get another $50-60 more Disney Dollars and use that money for breakfasts and some grats on the dining plan.

Like everyone has said... it depends on the # in your party, your desired length of stay, the ages of people going, ticket options chosen, and so on.

If you go the WDW website you can price your trip online, using different variables, such as different resort levels, ticket types, dining plan options, and such. That would be a great place to start!

For our upcoming trip (2 adults and our 17 year old), our total, staying from September 14th - 27th (13 nights/14 days) was $2262.98. We did not purchase trip insurance (knock on wood)!

This total includes:
~ 13 nights/14 days at a Value Resort (PC) in a "Preferred" location/room.
~ The DDP (however, we bounced back for free dining, so this costs nothing) for our entire stay (13 days at 1 TS, 1 CS, and 1 snack per day).
~ 10 day "basic" theme park tickets (we did not make them park hoppers or attach the no expire option, these will expire (if not used) 14 days after first use.
~ We added the Waterparks & More (whatever it is called exactly)... this gives us 10 admissions to the two WDW Waterparks, Disney Quest, Pleasure Island (for a little while longer) and a 9-hole walking golf course.
~ This package also had a few "bonus items" like one round (total) of putt-putt, $15.00 voucher for Planet Hollywood at DTD, luggage tages (1 per person), and a few other little things.

Staying in a WDW hotel gives you "perks", such as extra park hours, use of WDW transportation, free parking at the theme parks (if you choose to drive your own vehicle).

The nearly $2300.00 (for us) was a lot, however, it is pretty much "all inclusive" (except for tips, which must be factored in)...we will spend very little out of pocket while there (we will purchase little to no souveniers this time, and will spend very little on food). We are going to drive straight both coming and going (NW Ohio), pack our cooler full of water both coming and going, taking our own snacks to eat a long the way there and home, ect... Gas will cost of course, but we have no desire to fly, and besides that, we are sure we can drive much cheaper! I will rent an ECV while down, so that will add up as well.

Again, your cost will depend on many, many, many factors! I highly recommend the WDW website and your pricing it out with as many variables as possible, to see what fits your budget! Everyone's idea of a "budget trip" varies... I am sure there are many that think our trip is cheap as we are doing the "bare minimum" (staying at a Value and not flying) while there perhaps are other's that think $2300.00, plus related driving expenses, is to much money to spend.

Hmmmmm, we're going in November and the total will be about $1,200 ( we have AP have a timeshare, etc etc) and on another trip we spent in the low 5 figures, so...........

for two adults that stay at a dvc or deluxe resort it usual costs us around $5000. that includes food, gas money(we drive from conneticut), hotel room, not tickets because we're season pass holders, and non-park activites.

so pretty much everything but suviners

I will tell you what it cost my family of 4 to go this summer. It was me, my DH, our DD (9), and our DS (7). We arrived on July 8 and checked out on July 15 and all of us had day park hopper tickets. We stayed at the Pop Century in a preferred room. I would definitely recommend having a preferred room. We were really close to the bus stops and the main pool. We were on the basic Disney Dining Plan. We booked through AAA. That portion of our trip was $2700. Our flight was from Midway in Chicagio on AirTran. I also highly recommend AirTran. I had read a whole lot of bad press about this airline on various websites, but we found it to be great. You just have to constantly watch that your exact flight doesn't get cancelled, but that can happen on any airline. Our airline tickets for 4 cost a total of $954, back in early January.

I hope this helps you with your planning!

Here's our trip for September:
1 room at ASMusic - 4 nights + Free Dining + (2) 1-day park passes = $524.18
(2) air tickets from RI to Orlando = $400.

Total cost of trip = $924.18

We are using the Magical Express, Free Dining and left over passes from another trip, so I'm pretty happy!
