What internet provider?

Interesting to see someone class 20Gb a week as "extreme" though, I download that every day (so you can see why Pipex don't like me).

I don't really classify it as extreme, if at all. (teach me to post when tired) Its classed as heavy usage for a home user. The amount we do now is quite light to what it used to be. We have this issue of hard drive space the past month. (we lost 2 x 1TB in a week due to over heating). In about a month, we will back to where you are now. :)

Althought you are right most ISP are finding a way to try to stop heavy users. Those that have no d/l limit with throttle your speed at some time during the day. Or they will add a nice disclaimer in the very fine print where they have the right to cancel your contract, ban you until the end of the billing period or charge you more.

BT are terrible - our internet drops out all the time. It's not just us either - neighbours have the same problem. I called BT about it four weeks ago and have a "fault report" number but so far I've heard nothing - when I call I get told they're "experiencing a high volume of reports" and that I will be "dealt with ASAP". :confused3

I am with Demon.

We are a very heavy internet household where at least one PC, or laptop is connected to the net at one time. We also download an extreme amount (about 20 to 30G a week on average).

Demon rarely has drop outs. They have no d/l limit.

My only problem with them is sometimes the customer service can suck. But I have probably called it 3 or 4 times in 4 years so you can dismiss it a little.

Hi which demon product are you with, I'm currently looking to move from Zen as I'm paying £29.99 / Month but only getting 50gb transfer.

The demon site mentions a Fair Use Policy which restricts speed, are your subject to this and has it ever kicked in for you.

I am on Demon Home Office 8000 and pay £24.99. If you don't want a static IP then Home 8000 is pretty much identical at £19.99.

We do know our line speeds drop between 10pm and 6am on Fridays, Saturdays and the day before a bank holiday (so sunday nights) but not by substantional amount. We are talking we might go from a 7Mps speed to a 2Mps.

Zen's limit was starting to annoy me, luckily I have a monthly contract with them.
