Clarinet.

I played clarinet for 4th-8th grade, except for 7th when I switched to oboe. I took a year of piano in high school, and can still do melody w/ a bit of harmony, but it takes a lot of practice for anything more than that. I was a singer more than anything else- almost a vocal performance major in college, till I realized I wasn't enjoying it and needed to find another career so I could enjoy singing, if that makes any sense.

I played the glockenspiel for one year in high school band, but my motivation was only that there were some cute boys in the band. But after 1 year, I realized they weren't interested in me. That's the only musical talent in our family's generation. So we can't understand where DS gets his abilities-he's in a master's program in trumpet performance and performing in churches and musical theater in the DFW area.

Makes perfect sense--that's why I went into musicology instead of performance!
