I have a question, truly legitimate.....

For an entire week I would see the same scenario over and over again.....a mom, dad, and stroller with 2 kids (anywhere from 2 - 10 years old) and there would be like 4 and 5 bags. A diaper bag made perfect sense when there were smaller kids, but I am talking 2 backpacks, a massive purse, another bag like the size of a large duffel and then a huge camera bag.

What are you taking into the parks? I was thinking maybe a change of clothing for everybody in case you get wet and maybe lunch? I don't know??? Again, the question is legitimate. I am not affected by what others take into the park, so my question is based upon one out of curiosity only. I really wanted to know, but didn't ever want to ask. :rotfl:

I have a backpack - sweatshirt for everyone, sunscreen, wipes, hand sanitizer, phone, Chapstick, pins...

Can't say I'm walking around like a high school freshman with a giant backpack though lol.

Last night, I had my new camera/camera bag and we had a bag with our dinner and snacks. I did not bring my purse since my camera bag was so huge.

We were there from 3:30-10pm.

Bottled drinks also weigh a lot, so I would have considered an additional bag for those, but we made do with the one bag.

In march/April--a diaper bag will be added into the mix.

It is just me and DH. We put the ponchos in the bag, a bottle of water, our blood test kits and insulin and medication. I have a hard copy of ADRs and our Fastpass. Ziplocks and our mugs.

You can carry your own food into the parks, and I know a lot of families often do that to save money. But that does seem like an awful lot of bags! :)

Flip flops for the kids when it looks like rain. They usually like to wear running shoes in the parks, but if there are huge puddles from rain, I make them put on their flip flops until the puddles dry up.

Well per the puke thread, apparently most DISers feel you should be a boyscout. Maybe that's what it is....

Okay, that might be it. Extra shoes, extra clothing, lunch/dinner and perhaps jackets in the event it gets cooler. That could take up a lot of space. Seems like a lot to keep up with, but perhaps that is why all of the bags are in the stroller.

Per the puke thread, I added a spare top & bottom for everyone in my family to my list! (With my luck we'll find out someone doesn't handle the teacups well).

personally i take a small disney world draw string backpack.
and in it there is...
-my phone
-my wallet
-a travel size brush with an extra hair tie
-a chap stick
-a tiny body spray
-gum
-poncho
-if i buy a bottle of water or soda and am not done with it i stick it in there

thats about it.

although this time i'm going solo for the first time and so i will be bringing a portable phone charger, a small hand held magnifier, a small monocular, and my cane to tlet others know i'm visually impaired.

i also wear a hat and if i go when its chilly i wear or tie a hoodie around my waist.

i never bring extra clothes into the parks with me.
i'd only bring extra clothes if i was bringing a baby/toddler/kindergartener

when my family went when i was young we never brought too much.
basically sweatshirts cuz we usually went during the cooler months, a camera that went around my mom's neck, my mom brought her purse and my dad brought his huge video camera.
we usually ended up with a locker so he didn't have to lug it around all day and we'd usually end up putting our sweatshirts in there as well if it was warm enough during the day.

in recent years when my sister has taken her young children they typically had a stroller and diaper bag in the bottom and then 1 backpack i think mostly to store souvenirs in but idk.

i like to have what i consider my essentials but not much more cuz i really dont' want something big and bulky to carry around.

Eye transplant person here: drops and such. several pairs of sunglasses.
and sunscreen. 1 for face and one for other skin areas.
medication list, phone, wallet, and other assorted sundries.

I know a family with 4 children and each parent each carry a backpack.

The kids each have in their backpacks:
Autograph book
Pen
Pins (for trading)
Lanyard with pins
Vinylmations (for trading)
Money and gift cards for souvenirs
The 2 oldest, 17 & 15, also have cell phones in theirs

The mom carries:
Sunscreen
Anti-bacterial gel
Sunglasses
Money, gift cards, ATM card, credit cards (in a little purse in the backpack)
Water
Snacks

The dad carries:
DSLR camera
I'm not sure what else, if anything, he carries in his

We laugh with each other because they can't see how I can go without a bag and I can't see how hauling around 6 backpacks is fun.

When we went last September I felt like we brought a ton of stuff. We had 3 adults and 1 4 year old. Everyday we brought:
My purse (small cross body bag)
Sister had purse
Backpack with:
Nephews blankie
Sunscreen
Hand sanitizer
Wipes
Light up item for nighttime (ears, wand, necklace)

Then there was a small cooler with 4 bottles of water and fruit
Stroller with rain cover and 4 ponchos in the storage basket underneath.

This september my husband and I are going alone so I will have my magic band, cell phone and hand sanitizer!!

Kids need lots of crap!

i've often seen a party of 2 adults hauling 2 backpacks and i remember seeing the women trying to cram in a bottle of water into the top with huge difficulty.

i travel to WDW with my Dh as we haven't got kids yet and we try to go as light as possible, in a most cases we try to go without a bag at all. we put everything we need into out short pockets such as medication, lipgloss, phone, identification (for food and wine festival) and a print out of FP+

previous experience has taught me that a lot of stuff we were taking into the parks we didn't even use but was an 'in case'. things like a hairbrush, a change of shirt, different shoes etc. it was extra weight we could have done without.

this year i plan to wear cargo shorts and put everything in my pockets. even my suitcase travelling from the UK has got less stuff in it since i can wash stuff at the resort.

I thought the EXACT same thing when I was there in November! I saw a number of people with rolling duffles, I saw one person with a duffle that was probably a good four feet tall, plus people everywhere with backpacks stuffed to the max. I don't take that much when I go backpacking for a weekend!

My goal this trip is to NOT carry a bag so I don't have to go thru back check . . .wish me luck!
