What If We Can't Go To Disney Before My Chase Points Expire

I've been hoping to get a trip in to Disney before a big chunk of Chase rewards points I have expire, but things aren't working out. In the event we can't go before then what are my options with my points? What could I buy in anticipation of a later trip, if anything? What else can they be used for?

Are these points you can gift to someone else?
Or buy gift cards with?

Can you buy Disney gift cards online with the Rewards Card? I haven't tried it, but it seems like it would work like a credit card (it is a payment option at disneystore.com, but I don't know if it would exclude the gift cards). If so, you can save the Disney gift cards since they don't expire.

If not, you can get autograph books and other park specific merchandise at disneystore.com.

You can transfer them onto a rewards card and then the card is valid until it expires (usually 2 years)

I'm silly, I'm not thinking of my own Disney Visa with Chase. lol
Yes, you can cash them in and then buy other park merch from Disneyshopping.com, you can even gift them to someone else, and they cards themselves don't expire right away, there's a period of time that the card is good before they expire. I just can't remember how long....

I think they expire the second December after you get them, but that might have changed. If you request a card in January 2012 to November 2012, I think it expires December 2013. It seems like every card I get expires the following December, no matter when during the year I request it.

Put the rewards dollars on a rewards card and then use it to purchase gift cards on the disneyshopping.com website. I do it all of the time because I don't trust Chase to keep to the original terms of the rewards program agreement. The gift cards never expire and you can always apply them to your trip or tickets whenever you finally get around to taking that trip.

Perfect -- this is what I was wondering if I could do. I didn't know if the rewards card could be used toward a Disney gift card.

January may still be to early to get the new expiration date cards. I went to WDW every Jan 06 to 09 and always got a card expiring that Dec. When I went in Feb, I got one expiring the following year. Anyone who gets one in Jan, I recommend transferring the smallest amount allowed and waiting to see when the card expires to transfer more. (note: I was getting them in the park and not in the mail. I would even have the CM at Guest Relations look to see if there was a new batch of cards and never lucked out.)
