What if there were no discounts...

If I still got the cheap airfare I would continue to go the 2-3 times per year that I've been going. My DS and DD love the value resorts so that makes it easy. I've paid $21/each way in December, I just paid $49.25/ each way for May and they offered $.32 (yes, 32 CENTS!)for some dates in February that I would've purchased if I wasn't spending two weeks at AKL in May.

If I had to pay regular fare to fly I AND rack rate I'd only go once a year.

For us we will just continue to stay at the Swan if Disney's resort prices do not come back to earth. They are going to continue to raise rates and offer fewer discounts as long as they fill the number of rooms they want. In fact filling less rooms at more money per room might be more profitable due to not having to have as many staff memeber on duty. I am sure they have the models for their ideal occupancy rate and ideal price per room to maximize profit. The only way prices will come down or discounts go up will be if they do not hit those profit numbers.

So we will stay at the Swan instead of the YC because $200 a night at the Swan is well worth it compared to $350 to $400 a night at the YC. Just our opinion of course.
