What if someone joins me for a couple of days?

I'll be staying at BCV and BWV on rented points next month, and I invited my sister to come down for a few days at the end of the trip before I even thought about the fact that it might be a problem. She isn't on the reservation, obviously, since it was a spur-of-the-moment invite. I doubt she'll decide until just a few days beforehand, and I don't know what I would need, or be able, to do if she does want to come. HELP

As long as her visit does not exceed the occupancy limit for the room you have there will be no problem. You may call MS and add her to your reservation. She will get her own key. I don't think you have to specify which days she will be there.

Actually, you'll have to have the owner you rented from call and add her. MS will not speak to a non-owner.

As long as you are within the occupancy limits of the room, the only other consideration is whether you are on DDP. If so, she will have to pay for DDP for the entire period of the reservation.

Go ahead and contact your rentor and have DS put on the reservation. It won't hurt to have her on it even if she doesn't show. This way you don't have to wonder what's going to happen and let that little piece of stress go.

I was told by MS that you can just add the person on at the front desk if you don't exceed occupancy. We will have 2 guest for one night and I asked if we should add them now and was told no, it would be better to just let the front desk know if you have any one to add for the night.

That's what I was hoping to be able to do. I forgot that she would also have to purchase the DDP, which she won't want to do (she doesn't even know how much park tickets are yet).

Sorry to hijack the thread, but what if your visitor does not end up staying the night and is just visiting you at the resort during the daytime - do they have to sign up at the front desk?

And just to be the devil's advocate, what if you thought they were not staying the night and ended up needing to AND you are going to exceed occupancy, what happens then?

Technically she will have to buy the DDP if she is added, and she should be added if she stays. The front desk might or might not enforce the requirement for DDP if you add her mid stay but they might, and they should so you should plan accordingly. Given your situation where you have no idea if she's coming, and given my experience in this area, it might be the day of arrival before you know for certain. Personally I'd wait and see and simply add her at the time. If they require you back pay for the entire stay for her, simply have a plan how you'll handle that situation OR don't get the DDP.

That's two questions, one is that of a day guest and the other is an occupancy discussion. Both between you and the front desk of the resort. Disney does not have a formal day guest policy to my knowledge and it's usually up to the manager on duty to decide. For BCV it can be a real problem but generally isn't at the other resorts. Occupancy is a hot topic, some of us feel very strongly in this area but I won't say any more as to get this thread locked.

I'm thinking if I tell her she's going to have to pay for the dining plan and how much the park tickets are, she isn't going to come and I won't have to worry about it She has never been to Disney and has never expressed any interest in it whatsoever since she tends to travel to Europe when she leaves home. She travels on a strict budget, stays in hostels, etc. I'm not sure WDW would be a good experience for her, but she's gonna have to take her grandchildren sooner or later

Several times someone has come to visit us for a few days and all we had to do was inform the front desk and go pick up an extra key and parking pass.

No dining plans were involved.

If they were using DDP and didn't have to get it for their guests for the entire period, they were indeed very lucky.
