What if Six Flags Over Texas were more like WDW?

This is just for fun, for those of you Disney fans who are from North Texas or who are otherwise familiar with Six Flags Over Texas.

If Six Flags were more like Walt Disney World

It would be called the Six Flags Texas Resort, including Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor, Texas Wild Animal Adventure (in Grand Prairie,) and Six Flags’ Movie Studios at Las Colinas.

Parking would be expensive. Correction: Parking would be MORE expensive.

Guests arriving by car would have to park at the Six Flags Transportation and Ticketing Center near I20 and Collins and catch a shuttle bus or light rail train to one of the parks, unless they were staying at a Six Flags resort.

The refillable souvenir cups would have RFID chips in them.

There would be a statue in front of the clock tower of Angus G. Wynne holding hands with Bugs Bunny.

The picnic grounds and onsite parking at the main park would be replaced by RV lots with connections – at extra cost, of course.

Kids would need Flash Passes for Superhero Meet & Greets every time a new DC Comics movie got released.

With the Six Flags QS dining plan, you can get an entrée with a side or a drink – but not both.

The complimentary resort buses would be driven by cast members dressed to look like Mr. Six, the old bald guy who used to dance in their commercials.

October would be the month for Scooby’s Oh-So-Scary Halloween Party (replacing Fright Fest) and it would cost extra.

Holiday in the Park would feature Yosemite Sam’s High-Falutin’ Holiday Party, which would cost extra.

The message board, www.checkyoursixdotcom, would be flooded with messages like:
“Bring back the old Flash Pass system! The new one sucks!”
“Who else misses the original Pink Thing?”
“From The Cave to Gold River Adventure: Improvement or no?”
“Attention lovebirds: My kids are watching! Get a room!”
“Any Quest for Camelot merchandise at the gift shops?”
“If Harry Potter movies are WB, why doesn’t Six Flags have WWOHP?”
“I’m here now and boy is it HOT!!!” (even in October)

The resort hotels would be as follows:
VALUE (all located near the main park)
Six Shooter (Boomtown theme)
Hog Trail Stop (Arlington city history theme)
Old Mexico
MODERATE (located in and near Mansfield)
Silver Star (Cowboys football theme)
Texas Ranger (Baseball theme)
Metro Springs (Antebellum Texas-style)
DELUXE (Located in Irving and Las Colinas)
The Grand Texan
Wynne Field
Golden Armadillo

I am aware of many logical problems with this list, such as the Six Flags corporation would need to own most of the DFW metroplex to make this work. That's why I'm not suggesting this could ever actually happen. This post is, like I said, just for fun.

Love it!! (And my DH would totally be on the thread about the Pink Thing.)

Traffic would be a nightmare with Rangers and Cowboys home field beingso close.
I have heard the pink things are not the same.

I used to work very close to the Ranger's Ballpark (I've lost track of how many times it's changed names.) During day games, I had to stay at work an extra hour or else get caught in the most horrible traffic jams. This was before the Cowboy stadium was built. I can only imagine how bad that area is now.

I haven't bothered trying the new pink thing. It looks like one of those "push-up" pops my mom used to buy at the grocery store, except pink instead of orange. Not the same at all.

Why wouldn't it work? I like it. I'd be open to go. We look for out-of-the-way parks like this to go to for mini-vacations. When we don't want to drop $5k on Disney, but would be ok spending $1k for a 3-day getaway.

Closer to home, both Wisconsin Dells and Branson, MO do kind of this thing. They try to package up some local attractions and hotels into bundles and sell them as one. It works.

Both regions combine theme parks, water parks, indoor theme parks, arcades, stage shows, hotels, pools, and restaurants into the weekend getaway. There is so much more money to be made doing this than off locals who go for the day.

I see what your saying, but WDW is so much more than a bundle of local parks (which I think is a great idea; I once got in on a similar deal in San Antonio.) Disney literally owns all that land. The Six Flags corp. is not nearly strong enough to buy up and maintain that much real estate. I just thought it was fun to speculate on.

You should go to Kings Island, near Cincinnati, OH. There is a resort hotel, water park, awesome theme park with A LOT of roller coasters and a great kid's area, and is really close to a bunch more to do.

OP, I would love something like what you are saying. WDW is awesome, but it would be fun to have something on that scale somewhere else. The only time I have spent in Texas was for basic training, but other than being super hot, it was really cool.

Being in Austin, Six Flags over Texas is about 3 hours away and Fiesta Texas is about an hour away, so we have AP's since they cost less than $100 a year per person and are good for all Six Flags parks in the country.

In fact, we are about to head down to San Antonio today for a long weekend.

But honestly, I can't spend more than 3 hours or so in a Six Flags before I'm ready to leave. We'll hang out on the river walk and do other stuff.

I LOVE Fiesta. Maybe more than SFOT. When I was a kid, I could go there (SFOT) at opening and stay till dark and still not be ready to go home (picture my very tired parents dragging me to the car.) But now, it doesn't take nearly as long for me to have had all the fun I can stand. It doesn't help that the prices are higher and the customer service is worse.
