What if I'm not sure of the party size?

We are thinking about taking a couple of friends with us on our Spring Break family trip but do not know for sure if they will be available. If we reserve a table for 7 but then turn out to be only 5, should we just tell them when we arrive at the restaurant? If we call WDW-DINE, will Disney want to cancel our 7 ressie and rebook with 5, with maybe no space left?? Has anyone gone through this and how did it work out?

Thanks!

It's always easier to book for the maximum number of people you expect. So book for seven. If the other two don't come along, try and get the party size down to five. If there is nothing available at that time, show up with the five. But at least attempt to get the correct party size in the system.

A party of seven would either be a table for six and a table for two so the table for two can easily be taken away. Or, it could be two tables for four and again, it would be easier to take away the seating than to add to it.
