What I was Told About Free Dining When Booking Future Stay

We just got back and booked our future stay at the Beach club for 7 nights at POFQ.

I asked if they were going to offer free dining to the public later on (so my mom could go) and the guy strait up said NO. I asked him why and he goes into this being the new pilot program and they probably will offer it again in April for people staying in the resorts at that time, just like it is for December (Not to the public). He said the hotel booking locations will change and the different hotels will get the inserts in their rooms offering it next time.

I can't confirm this to be true, but it sounds like free dining will only be offered from now on to people actually staying in the resorts and booking at that time.

I can answer any questions

Yikes! I hope that isn't the case BUT...a great reason for me to just go ahead and take the hubby down by ourselves for a few days...!

Very interesting. I would take anything the CMs say this far out with a grain of salt. The reason I say this is because when I recently called CRO to make a payment on my reservation, I was told there would be free dining offered to the general public and that I should call back around March/April. She was aware that I do not have a trip coming up any time soon other than the one next Aug. Remember that most of the CMs never thought free dining would be offered again after the 1st time in '05. We'll just have to wait on pins and needles for the next 3 or 4 months to see how things play out.

I'm going to remain positive that it will be offered to the general public!!! :thumbsup2

p.s.

I think that might be false just because he tends to be leaving out the fact that is a huge draw for the Disney Visa cardholders...THE reason we got our card last year was this deal....and THE reason why we went to the POLY in 05 and possibly 07

heres to hopin'

Trying to decipher the long range goal of Future Stay/DDP is not realistic at this time; particularly if you are basing conclusions on the interpretation of one CM. WDW is making a boatload of money thanks to DDP. Higher occupancy, more traffic in the parks, higher retail sales, etc.

It occurs to me that Future Stay and DDP will be linked only to the extent that DDP will book to capacity earlier and leave last minute plans in the cold.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I'm a Disney Visa cardholder now too. Would like to get in on the deal early if offered. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know if the Disney Visa is offered to Canadians? I guess I should just check that out myself but I was just curious.;)

We asked about it to ( about offering it later) a got a no out of the CM. This was on Dec 9th though.

Could it be that the CMs are saying "no" as a sales tactic so that people book their future stay right there and then???

LBelle: I looked into the DisneyVISA . . . only for the US :guilty:

Dont think this one was using it as a scare tactic because I asked after we booked and paid the deposit. He asked how I found out about the offer and I said trough Disboards and he said he knew about theDisboards and commented on how we here at the disboards managed to find out about rates and things before even the CMs knew about them. Maybe he said that knowing I would tell the members here what he said. Dont know.

Hey LBelle.... not currently being offered to us Canucks that I know of. Ii checked about a month back. From what I understand, no card wanted to pick it up in Canada. We hafta pray that Chase comes to Canada and brings the card with it!!!

Oh Please, please, please, please, please, please with a cherry sugar and everything else on top please offer free dining!!! The WL is calling my name. :worship: :worship:

Thanks guys for your replies re: Disney Visa in Canada. What a shame.:guilty: Oh well...guess I'll just have to keep hoping they offer the FD and that there will still be availability!! :thumbsup2

I hope they do, this is the only way we can afford to make another trip next year. I know the dates, but i have not booked yet waiting for them to offer it to us.

Just my $0.02...

Disney sets aside a set number of rooms for the FDDP promotion. At the end of December, a percentage of those will be booked (through the offer to UK residents and the bounce back program). Disney will then take a look at the remaining inventory and decide the best way to fill it.

Assuming the bouce back program has been working well, I woul dnot be suprised to see it utilized again during a peak season such as spring break. It is a cost effective way to advertise the program as well as giving people an incentive to book more than one trip in a year.

After the second bouce back, they will look at inventory again and decide how best to fill it. Assuming any is left, I would bet on Disney Visa Card holders getting next crack then on to the general public.

On thing I think is safe to say, buy using the bounce back once and possibly twice, the amount of inventory available for the General Public may be much less than last year.

I am not sure I am understanding. IF they offer the free dining in April will it be like when we went this past September and we book ahead OR are they just going to announce it when we check in if we book rooms at that time?

When we were there in September a restaurant manager told me that they had announced to the CM's that Free Dining was being extended to EVERYONE who was on property at that time frame. I told a few people to check and see if it applied but I do not know if it did or not.

My husband has just been diagnosed with a very serious medical condition and had asked to go to DW to see the Xmas lights but it was just impossible for oh so many reasons and I have promised him that I will take him to the Flower and Garden Show (and to see the lights after Thanksgiving 2007 God willing) and it would be such a wonderful thing if I could give him the Free Dining again. I just do not eat enough to feel able to pay for it.

I enjoyed giving my extra food away to others but it was a lot more painfree and fun since it was FREE!!
