My husband put this up on our blog after our last trip and I forgot how funny "the other stuff" was...Enjoy!

Normal Stuff:
* Staying on site is completely worth it for the Express Pass alone, not to mention the ability to use all the hotels amenities. Oh .. and don't forget if you want to have a few at CityWalk you can walk to your room.
* Four to five days seems to be the perfect amount of time, or at least the longest we can manage to stay in hotels.
* For lunch the park food wasn't terrible but it wasn't always worth it. Mythos was ok, and Lombards was good. If you want to eat at the park I would do lunch, and go to City Walk or out on the town for dinner.
* If you get the Volcano Nacho's don't even try to eat the Cheeseburger in Paradise.
* If you have younger children or are easily offended read the show descriptions, this will keep you from having to leave in the middle of a show because you or they are upset. (We didn't leave any but watched lots of folks leave Beetlejuice)
* A small backpack would've been much easier to carry than the camera bag and assorted other stuff we carried.
* Have a good planner (like my wife who planned our trip) set the trip up.

Other Stuff:

* Just because it is 40-50 degree's outside doesn't mean that someone won't wear a bikini.
* People wearing high heals at amusement parks aren't as uncommon as you would think or hope ...
* You'll probably see at least one Paris Hilton look alike ... Hopefully she'll have more on than ours did.
* Accept the fact that some people think body odor smells nice, and they'll be sitting next to you at the one show you want to see.
* They'll be lots of people in wheel chairs or motorized chairs. When they jump out and rush in front of you in line don't be surprised.
* Tights ... there not just for skinny people so keep your shields up.

Ha, this is funny! And completely accurate of course. I second the part about the Volcano Nachos. I pretty much eat those as a meal. Between 4 people we put the hurt on the nachos and order one or two real meals and split it. Glad you had fun!

For a Universal newbie like me....this is perfect.....solid advice!;)

OMG, the normal stuff was great but the other stuff was hilarious. :rotfl:Thanks for sharing.

It was low 50's this week and we saw lots of people in shorts and sleeveless shirts as well as winter jackets. There were also lots of little kids wearing way less than they should have been.

:rotfl2: People with small children should understand that Universal is not geared toward the little ones. I suggest doing Shrek first. The preshow will give you an idea of the Universal attitude.:thumbsup2 Cracks me up every time.

Really true! We saw many people with shorts.. some with short shorts.. and t-shirts when it had to be 40 degrees this past week.. amazing!

Awesome post.. I tried to eat all of the vocano nachos.. but I could not...

Thank You so much. We will be emarking on our first Universal Trip. We have done the last 3 just at WDW. We love Disney and can plan those trips blindfolded by now. Our kids are 9 and 11 and we feel it is time to step out of the Disney box.
I am trying to educate my very busy husband about our upcoming trip. We both feel a little anxious/excited about this new family adventure.

I just copied and pasted your post to him. Short, Sweet, Funny and to the Point.
Feel free to post anymore of these musings.

We had those very same observations at Disney, especially about the high heels, leggings and body odor of the undeodorized and way too much perfumed variety.

Oh I like your style !!! I myself am very STRAITLACED and NEVER crack a Funny:rolleyes1
Whilst I have never been to Universal I have seen some of those apparels you mentioned many times at Disney!!!:lmao:

Maybe you could help this newbie with some tips !!!

1. Your take on the best way from MCO to Universal without a Rental?

2. First day (arrival) thought about a resort/relax day ..Where to eat that is cheap and fairly close ??

3. Your take on the Meal Deal???

That's because people who are from places like us (Alaska) think 40 degrees above 0 is a heat wave

1. Your take on the best way from MCO to Universal without a Rental?Don't know as we drove from VA but ask because I know there is a thread SOMEWHERE lol detailing the best way around

2. First day (arrival) thought about a resort/relax day ..Where to eat that is cheap and fairly close ??
We went to the parks, we were just too excited to sit around the hotel. What time are you arriving? We are hitting SeaWorld since we arrive at lunch this time around because it's the only park open late.

3. Your take on the Meal Deal???
It's your standard fair counter service which is not what we enjoy. We are staying club this time so will eat breakfast at the hotels and grab a good big lunch at a restaurant in City Walk or one of the parks....basically somewhere with AC since it will be August and eat "dinner" at club level. I would recommend the refillable cups though. Refills are less than a dollar and well worth it, water of course is free in them.

What hotel are you staying and when are you going to be there?

We took a limo...you get off the plane go to baggage and there is a door which brings you right under the airport and your off. Fastest I ever got from airport to resort.

2. First day (arrival) thought about a resort/relax day ..Where to eat that is cheap and fairly close ??
We usually head straight to parks (we arrive mid day) and have lunch. try to save resort/relax for a break midtrip.

3. Your take on the Meal Deal???

Never did the meal deal...would love to hear input also.

In regards to the original post...really funny.:rotfl2:

The kids would be happy with the typical Hambuger/Pizza meals !!! The package I was looking at was 4 nights and 3 park passes !! That's why I thought a relax day the first and part of the last !!! The restaurants at the Hotel look VERY pricey for 4 kids !!!:scared1:
