What I am doing differently on next vacation

Just thinking over the weekend (always dangerous), what I am doing that is different than anything I have done before on my next DVC stay:
Going to Night of Joy in Sept.
I know that I have placed this same list of things to other's questions about what to do outside the parks.
sports: golf, mini-golf, fishing, RPDE, marathon, bowling, ESPN Club, WWS/ESPN Zone, etc
shopping: DTD, area outlet malls, large scale malls
drinking: Jellyrolls, Raglan Road, monorail tour of resorts, walking tour of resorts in the Boardwalk area
movies: DTD 24 screen theater some with meals served by waiters
night clubbing: Jellyrolls, Atlantic Dance, Raglan Road, Citywalk
resort tours: monorail tour of resorts, Boardwalk around the lake tour of resorts, AKL/AKV
offsite: Gaylord Palms Resort, Citywalk, swamp tour
What are you doing different either inside the parks or outside that you have never done before?

As of right now we do not have a park hopper (still have a few months to change/upgrade). We have never gone with just the base ticket but the time of year we are going (early Dec.) the parks are not open that late and we have small children so we are thinking it will not be "needed".

I just got back from a 9 day resorts only trip at the BWV's. I also did resort only days around my cruise not too long ago. We actually had a blast and I'd do resort only again for sure.

Next year, I am doing the parks but with no AP's. I won't have tickets for each day of the trip.

Once we joined DVC, we slowed down and stopped going to the parks everyday since the resorts are just so much fun. We've had much more enjoyable vacations. Now that the dds are older, I think we are going to start adding in the tours that we've wanted to do, i.e., beyond the seeds.

This year we did our first-ever RunDisney event!

It was lots of fun and may be mildly addicting ...

We are happy trying a new place for a meal, new tour, resort, etc.

Next trip - we are trying Cape May for the first time and adding a short double dip cruise on the Dream (first short DCL cruise).

Not sure if we will do something else that is different yet!

Before and after the upcoming MC I will be with a friend who does not want to go into a park. It will be my first non park WDW trip ever....3 nights total. I do not think I can make it, I will probably go into Epcot for something, maybe to see a show, we will be at BCV after the cruise, and BLT before. We do have dinner at The Wave and plans to see fireworks twice.

We are going to Mickey's Christmas party and plan to tour as many resorts as possible to see Christmas decorations. Usually our trips are very park-centric.

In Aug we are doing 1 park per day...not going early for RD but going around 10am. Used to hit HS or AK for RD and then do MK late EMH or Epcot in the evening. Used to ride the big thrill rides (roller coasters) several times each...probably won't in Aug, just once and done. We will sleep in and relax more. Next Aug we are adding US on to our trip.

We rarely go off property but on our last trip, we went to Universal just to visit "Springfield USA", the expanded Simpson's area there. We ate at Krusty Burger, had a Duff beer at Moe's, took our photos next to "The Seven Duffs", etc. As you can see from my avatar, it was something I just had to see! They did a great job and got the details just right, even down to the quote on the back of the statue of Jebediah Springfield.

There are some good photos in this article in case anyone is interested: *********************************/universal/the-simpsons-springfield-usa/
ETA: Nevermind I guess this particular link is not allowed. Just google "Simpsons at Universal" and you will find lots of articles about this new attraction.

We'll be doing lots of things different on the next trip since we're taking our DGDs, 2 yo and 4 yo, for their first trip. We're doing the character lunch at Hollywood and Vine, getting FP+ for meeting the characters, doing BBB for DGD's 4th B'day, renting a stroller, LOTS of things we've never done before!

We are doing the Villain's Unleashed Party, I'm doing the Illuminations Cruise (we've done it before, but not with our very good friends along), we're doing 7DMT and A&E for the first time, we'll be checking out all the Frozen Summer Fun activities, we'll have a cabana for our blizzard beach day, we'll be doing High Tea at the Grand Floridian and it will be our first time dining at Raglan Road!

OMG!!!
I am so glad I posted to this thread!
While i was looking at my schedule, I kept thinking I was forgetting something. I just remembered, I booked the Sunrise Safari (they just started offering it to DVC staying at AKL)!! I don't even remember which day it's for - I need to call them!!

After our Disney stay, we are headed to Vero Beach for the first time. Really excited about that! It will also be the first time renting a car while on property. I just hope DH can figure out how to get around without getting too mad :furious: he's not exactly a patient driver!!

In May we are going with our Son and his family - planning just 4 days in the parks, plus a water park - with a full day just for resort fun and relaxation and another DTD day. We enjoyed our water park & more option last time and plan to take advantage of that and not "commando" the parks as much the next time. With them living halfway across the states, we sometimes only see each other once a year, so family time will be as important as park time to us! :goodvibes

We're trying an on-site hotel stay with no park passes (have to say a little nervous) but besides hotel dining we have the segway tour scheduled (FW); hot-air balloon; and bowling on our list of things to do.
