What have you won?

I just won a bike for my daughter in a raffle at work!!:dance3:

Last year, I won a handmade Elsa dress for her from a FB page.

Aside from the occasional dollar on a lottery ticket, and mouse ears during the YOAMD contest at WDW, that's the gist of my winnings.

What have you won?

DH won an iPad mini. Once I won a Coach wristlet on an eBay forum.

A football, a man's wallet, $100 in a penny slot machine in Vegas, $70 in the lottery and the worst peach pie I've ever eaten (or, I should say, "never" eaten because one bite did it for me) as the prize for being the person who had come the furthest to attend a Bluegrass night in Buffalo, Wyoming.

The best thing I won was a trip to WDW in 2002. :D

I've been fairly lucky and have won several kinds of things over time and include:
a bowtie
t-shirts
tickets to a Ringo Starr concert
tickets to a Monster Truck rally
tickets to see the Globetrotters
tickets to a beach music concert (it's this weekend, but the weather may be terrible....so I may not go)
some plants for my yard
gift cards

I don't do the lottery, and I generally don't enter contests that will have a huge number of people trying (national things are out, except Disney, where I'll enter once), but I do go with the motto, if you don't try, you won't win. So I often put my name in for things I see.

How did you win the WDW trip? Did you get to stay in a deluxe resort?

Only 2 times have I won something memorable (and where the prize was worth more than I spent to get the prize). At my Dad's wake in 2001, there were scratch off ticket vending machines and a few of us got a ticket or two for fun. Well, there were a few winners amongst us (like $5 here, $10 there and maybe like $50) so we bought more and I won a total of $250. Then, on a Carnival cruise in 2011, I played bingo and won a free cruise for 2 people. I will have to play the powerball heavily in 2021.

I never win anything. I remember years ago when my wife and I went on our first cruise and we decided to play some bingo. No matter what, I just couldn't win. Then when they announced they were going to play a game of reverse bingo I thought to myself, "no problem here, I can win this one." Sure enough, 5 numbers called and guess who was the first to BINGO. Yep, that would be me. :rotfl2:

Oh wait, I did win something once. I was part of a wedding party several years ago and the groom bought all the guys in his wedding party a lottery ticket. I turned out to be the lucky winner of a free ticket which when redeemed for another ticket turned into a lucky loser. :rotfl:

I won a beautiful Marlboro Team Penske bomber jacket by setting the fastest lap on a race car simulator. It was at a bar that we just dropped in to on a Wednesday night. So then I had to wait until closing time to make sure I didn't get beat and claim my prize!

One time I won a coloring contest at my dance studio and won a free ice cream cake. It stunned me cause I suck at art and I am still proud of it.

OK, this is going to be long.....

My local radio station was holding a three week contest in Spring 2002 after some of their staff had returned from WDW. Three times a day they asked WDW/Disneyland trivia questions and you had to be caller 9 to answer. I happened to listen to that station at the time at work, but really didn't have an intention to call in because I felt like it was a really hard chance I'd be the right caller from previous experience trying to win things. One day at the start of the second week, my DH says he heard about the contest and told me I should try for it. That was the push I needed to try. So I started dialing the next day. On the second day of trying, instead of getting the busy signal I always got when I called, it kept ringing....so I held on. Someone finally picked up and said that the first two people to answer got it wrong and it was my turn. The question was: Where did Walt Disney have an apartment in Disneyland? I got it right and was now in the running for the big prize. (I got a gift bag of goodies from WDW for winning that which I took my two kids to pick up with me a few days later). For the rest of the week and the following week, I kept trying again (I was going to be 'my sister' when I called because I wanted her family to have a chance too), but never got through. So, in the end, I had a 1 in 45 chance of winning. That's good odds and I actually felt like I might win it. I had to wait around the phone the day they "pulled" the name for the grand prize winner (they told you when they'd call) and it was my name!

We worked with a person at WDW to set up the trip. There were a lot of black-out dates and with kids in school, we ended up taking the trip in early June 2003. We were able to stay at the Grand Floridian and got 5 day park hoppers, flights from home, transfers, and $1500 in recreation money to spend. We ended up adding a couple days at BWI beforehand on our own dime, so that we had a full week's trip. It was really one of the best trips to WDW we ever had.

I do have to say that our tax bill was pretty high that year. It was almost what we'd have paid for a regular week's trip for us.

One time I won plane tickets from a national contest I entered through Yahoo! It was their Home for the Holidays sweepstakes and they gave away a pair of plane tickets every day during the month of December. Imagine my surprise when I got a FedEx envelope telling me I won! I ended up getting two $500 American Airlines gift cards. Sold them on eBay for $950 and used the cash to fund a trip to Vegas :goodvibes

When I was a baby, my parents entered my photo into a cutest kid contest. They won two PGA tickets.

Other than that, won a few random things on the radio and in local contests. Nothing huge!

I win alot of things, nothing big. I donate most of the stuff to my kids old school for their fundraisers.
My winnings consist of books, dvds, toys etc. I just won a goodreads book and then another book, a jewelry box and a pen I think they said from a blog. Also $25 gift certificate to places like family dollar etc.
Usually I win a lot of blog contests which seem to be the easiest to win.
Only disney thing I won was 2 tickets to Tarzan on Broadway once that I sent dh and ds1 to.
Biggest thing I won was $100 check from some company's grocery giveaway sweepstakes.

A little over $3000 playing craps at a casino about 10 years ago. But I was playing too conservatively. I should have increased my bets when the dice became hot and won at least $10,000.

A wheelbarrow of cheer (liquor) at a charity raffle. Liquor was easily worth $500, but the wheelbarrow wasn't included!! I wanted the wheelbarrow!!

Tickets to Lady Antebellum concert on the beach last summer. They were free anyway, but you had to enter a lottery to obtain them.

Free groceries for a year. 52 separate $100 gift cards at a supermarket playing a Monopoly game where you had to complete a set of stickers in a booklet.

When I was very little, I would go to the American Girl Doll fashion shows they hosted in several high schools in my state. My mother ended up winning several "silent auctions" from them- I won a bath tub for my doll, a movie theater/stage for my doll, and the entire girl of the year collection once- which included a new doll! It was real cute.

I have won several small things - I won Volunteer of the Year from the DH's unit - recieved a $50.00 Starbucks Giftcard, I won a free throw contest at the commissary one weekend (we just happened to walk by and I steped in line) and got a free 2-liter of pepsi, I won a free turkey by bowling beofre thanksgiving at the commissary, and probley a few other small things that i can't think of now

I've won a few CDs in the past and a sci-fi book in a raffle. But I have to say that my favorite was winning tickets to see The Incredibles on Ice in 2005 from a local radio station. I had never won anything from a radio station before that. DS was 3 at the time so it was the perfect age for him. We loved it!
