What have you seen on the EA? (running thread)

I'm talking about the Emerald Aisle, not Emerald Club. I see no advantage to EA now if it's only going to be intermediates on that aisle from now on, with the new changes to the Emerald Club.

I can still bypass the counter as an EC member by booking Emerald Reserve for the size I want and use coupons too.

If EA will only be intermediates from now on, what is the benefit now of the EA? If upgrades will only be for Executive level members who go to the Executive aisle, I see NO benefit to continue the EA... Just get rid of it and call that aisle the intermediate aisle.

Of course, I'm still 'hopeful' that the EA will sometimes have an upgrade or a PT cruiser, but time will tell.

Does that make any sense??

I understand where you're coming from and I agree that if it is strictly going to be intermediate they may as well get rid of it. However, I wouldn't write it off yet. This happened another time, it blew over and full sizes were back on the aisle. I would think most of their business in Orlando is tourists, I wonder how many executive level they will have.

Arrived April 21 at 10:00pm. Was met at the Emerald Isle by the Manager who looked at my new card and told me I could only take a car from the Emerald Isle side not the Executive side. The executive side had about 20 cars, many PT cruisers, one blazer, two small Geo SUV's, one Aztek, and a few full size Grand Prixs and other cars. The regular Isle had 4 cars. One Alero, two Chevy Classics, and one Dodge Stratus that someone was taking. I opted to take a PT Crusier from the Intermediate Isle. Was not too pleased with the selection on my side of the Isle.

you have me totally confused....

you said the pt cruisers were on the Executive side of the aisle but then you took a pt cruiser from the intermediate aisle????

was this different than the emerald aisle

did they have pt cruisers on both the executive side of the Emerald aisle and also in the Intermediate aisle?

/me scratches my head

How do you became "able" to use the executive aisle? Is it just for Emerald Aisle, or Emerald Reserve, too? Thanks! ;)

Sorry about the confusion! They would not let me take the PT Cruisers from the Executive side of the Isle, there were none on the regular side of the Emerald Isle, but they told me it was okay to walk over and take one of the two PT Cruisers that were over on the intermediate car row which is a row or two over from the Emerald Isle. It all seemed a little silly to me!

it has something to do with the number of rentals you do as an EA member....

so many rentals or so many days per year bumps you up to the next level....

Rent your way to higher levels!

National introduces new membership levels for our Emerald Club members. We have our original Emerald Club, and now we have Executive and Elite Executive. Click here to see how to reach these levels

Emerald Club Executive

Offered to all members enrolling into the program.

To reach this level, a member needs 12-24 rentals or 40-84 rental days per calendar year.

Executive Elite

To reach this level, a member needs to rent 25 or more times or have 85 or more rental days per calendar year.

hope this helps

humphrey bear....

i agree completlely with you

it will be a crap shoot as to what you get......from now on but at least you still get to choose even if on a limited basis...

by the way the PT cruiser is based on an economy car platform.....that being the dodge NEON

but they are called specialty cars with National

thanks for clearing up my confusion, it was what i thought you were trying to say but just wanted you to clarify for others

Looking more and more like I should just skip my chances on the EA and keep my full size reserved on ER.

Thanks for all the updates everyone!!

We were on our honeymoon 4/26-5/3 we got to side A around 10 am - we took a bright blue saturn Vue with like 5K on it. There were 2 of them, a few chevy astecs, a WHOLE bunch of PT cruises and then a few full size and a few intermediates on the emerald aisle.

I returned the Impala this afternoon. I glanced over at the aisle as we were walking out. I saw a Monte Carlo and an Aztec on the Emerald Aisle. Also Alero, Malibus. Not sure what was further down. Didn't look over on the Executive Aisle side. One thing I did notice was there were several Malibu's in the intermediate aisle, I wonder if they were reclassified from full size or they were just short on intermediates. There were probably 75 cars sitting in the return rows.

Was at MCO A-Side EA on Friday 5/7 around noon. There were several Pontiac Aztecs, a few Plymouth PT Cruisers, one Chevy Blazer and LOTS of intermediate 4-door sedans. There may have been an Impala or two, as well.

While I was scanning the row a National employee parked a Buick Rendevous in the regular EA aisle. That was the only one I saw in that aisle, though the Executive Selection aisle was full of Rendevous'. When I looked inside I noticed this Rendevous, though now parked in EA, was 'tagged' for Executive Selection. Even though it was in the EA I was afraid that driving it out of there would cost me extra $$$! I grabbed the keys from the door, walked over to the National employee watching over the aisles and ask her if I would be charged extra to take that Rendevous. She made out a new tag labeling it as "EA" and said go ahead.

So I think there is still a good chance that you can get free upgrades from the EA if you arrive at times when the aisles are full.

Just returned last night. We got a full size Buick Century off of the EA. There was also an Impala (full size too). Aztec and PT cruisers. We got there about 11:00 AM. The executive aisle was almost empty and the regular EA was half full. We were happy to get a full size.

as i have mentioned before, that lil tag on the mirror contains a lot of information we do not know about

we were not as fortunate the time we found a NICE car in the EA, when we got to the check out, we were told this was not an EA car and had been misplaced on that aisle by an employee, we had to re park the car and choose another one

as long as the employees are doing this for people, it would seem all our "forboding" on the demise of EA and upgrades is moot, since it is still occuring even with the new policy being in place

the executive aisle still gives the perk though of a full sized reserved at intermediate price so no "crap shoot" per se there

From what i've seen in various posts, May and June Interm. EA vs. fullsize ER rates are only $8-$10 apart. For that money I say skip the Aisle and go for the guaranteed fullsize. ::yes::

Hit the key too fast, sorry.
We have been using EA for several years now and always took whatever car we wanted but with all the posts lately about the changes, I was a bit concerned.
When we saw the Buick Rendevous, I must have asked the man three times, are you sure we can take this car? He said, you can have any car in EA.
That Rendevous is some nice car and at such a great rate, $189. for 10 days. Some by the name of Curly posted the code (6600330)
Thanks again Curly.

<font face="times" size="+0">I've got a number of questions.

First, does anyone know if the Malibus that are showing up recently on the EA are the new 2004 Malibus? I heard that the newest model is much better than the old 2003 Malibu. It seemed like at the end of last year, and early this year, Malibus disappeared and all you could find were Classics. So I thought maybe they stopped having Malibus on the Aisle, but now some of you are seeing them again.

Also, has anyone seen a Camry on the Aisle since they started with the separation of regular EA and Executive EA? Or is it more likely to find a Camry in the Full Size Emerald Reserve Aisle?

Finally, how has the selection of cars been on the regular Intermediate Aisle for those of you that had bad luck with the EA being empty? What makes/models do they usually put there?

*sigh* I'm really debating about whether I should just book a Full Size Emerald Reserve for next week and skip the Aisle. Except DBF and I normally don't need that big a car. A Camry is really the biggest car we'd want to drive. We'll be picking up in Tampa though, so maybe things are different there than MCO.</font>

Arrived on 5/9 at 9pm, EA had several full size, 1 truck, 1 PT cruiser & for all you minivan people..........5 minivans. plus many intermediates. We took the cruiser. My husband really liked it.
We also used the priceless code & had no problem using it.
