In light of the recent threads where I have participated, I have learned a couple of things this week.

1. You need a permit to protest.
2. The way things really work in our bordering towns with mexico.

I know ive learned a bunch more here on the dis but these are two recent things that come to mind.

So what have you learned on the DIS?

I have learned that people will get their panties in a wad over pretty much anything.

I have learned you can cook hot dogs with a coffee maker.

I have learned that a large percentage of people think dining is spelled dinning.

I have learned that some people consider it art to take pictures of a half eaten plate of food.

I have learned what The Shocker is.

This is just from this month. I'm too old to remember anything before that.

That some people don't use a top sheet on their beds. Who knew. :confused3

And that some people make their guests take their shoes off in their house. :confused3

That the Community board is not the most brutal board here.

DVC'ers and campers do not get along.

If you whine at Disney you'll get something in return.

Because you have bills you should not vacation. It's a sin.

Wearing scrubs in public is icky.

Coconuts kill more people than pitbulls.

Most importantly, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I have learned many things including:

1. Middle aged women love teenage vampires;
2. Very few people can spell the word definitely;
3. The word fat as used to describe people is insulting, yet "pooh sized" is a cute, endearing term;
4. The State of Minnesota has the best schools and its citizens are not wimps;
5. Woot is a word and it is usually followed by multiple exclamation points, though I have no idea what it means;
6. Unexplained poor academic performance by a DIS child is the result of a) a terrible teacher or b) an undiagnosed learning disability;
7. Michigan's woeful economic situation is the result of a few greedy people and the citizens of Michigan bear no responsibility;
8. People love seeing celebrities and even podcasters have groupies/sycophants;
9. 68% of children are gifted, 31% have learning disabilities and 1% are normal;
10. HFCS causes murderous rampages;
11. Some people like to number their responses in a post.

:laughing:

I learned I am tacky for paying to go to a party for a couple getting married to help them out with the costs.

Too many people look for reasons to be offended.

Entitlement mentality is as rampant all over the county as in my area.

Many people are clueless when it comes to money management.

I've learned to appreciate my wife and family much more for their normalness.

I've learned that it's common for people to book hotels with a zillion requests attached to it, and if all the requests are not met that it's perfectly fine to vent about how it ruined your vacation as long as you start your vent with "I know it's only a request BUT...."

I've learned that some people will actually plan out thier entire vacation to the minute, where they'll be, what they'll order at a restaurant, which order they'll do the rides in and so on.... Honestly, I never realized that people could be that organized. I'm on vacation, if I feel like sleeping in, I'm gonna sleep and I eat when I'm hungry.

I've learned that people are overly concerned with germs, spelling, and with what other people are doing

That some people hang towels in the guest bath and expect the guests will know not to use them.

That I am a terrible parent for a large variety of reason. A few of those would be: I sent the kids to summer camp, DD is allowed to wear a bikini, I do not censor music or books, my kids use public transportation without me with them, my kids have had cell phones since they were quite young, etc.

Everyone must keep a funeral ready outfit available to them at all times--shopping for one when needed is not okay.

Pretty much all teachers and schools are mean. Then again so are the parents and kids.

plenty else. That first one was a true revelation to me--I never had any idea whatsoever that anyone would want me to not use a towel hanging in the bathroom.

This.

Er, not the wife part, though. :laughing: Mine would be husband. :rotfl:

The other things are way too many to list.

Way too many things to remember..

The good..
The bad..
The ugly..
The helpful..

And so much more..

Good source for quick information though..:goodvibes

If you go to a Long Island wedding, try to find out how much your "hosts" spent on you, because that's how much a guest usually gives as a wedding gift.

And I've learned lots of actual WDW-related stuff too!

Oh I forgot that one! I had never heard of that before the DIS either.

My way is the only way.

Some parents are very lucky to have perfect children without any psychological or medical issues. If they did they would crack or committ child abuse.:laughing:

I didn't realize that taking a pool towel back with you to your room is just about as bad as drowning kittens. It never occured to me that using that wet towel to
cover my body on the way back to the room was taramount to stealing.

I have learned that any time someone does anything at all out of the ordinary it is because they have an unseen disability. Kids don't just cry or act up for no reason because they are kids, they must be on the spectrum. Adults can't be impolite douche nozzles, they must have some kind of disability that interferes with their proper interaction with society.

Out in the real world the vast majority of people are normal, here on the community board normality is abnormal.

People also seem to care about what other people do in their lives. I don't care when or how often you mow your grass, when you garbage goes out to the curb, if you park a car in your driveway or street over night, if you put a satellite dish anywhere on your property, if you line dry your clothes in the back yard, if you call someone madam or sir, what you wear to a wedding (or the gift you give), if you wear fur, what kind of car you drive, or anything else. I just live my life and don't care how others live theirs if they are not breaking any laws.

Oh, and skinny is a bad word.

I learned that if I am invited to a LI, NJ, NYC metro wedding to run the other way since there is no way that I can/am willing to pay the price of admission. :hippie:

Disney is responsible for acts of God.

Sh*t just doesn't happen. Someone is ALWAYS responsible.

Don't even think about using a handicap accessible bathroom.

I have to say that after reading some of these, that not only do I agree with most, but I have found the answers to this thread absolutely HILARIOUS!!!!!!!
