What have you learned from the Dis?

I totally agree Carol, I have learnt so much from these boards and I'm always finding new things out.

It is amazing the amount of people on here that I mention to my family and friends that I really do class as my friends ~ and a lot of them I have never met, and then there are those that I have met and that I do consider to be my good friends.

Don't ya just love the Dis

Mandy :)

::yes::

I've learned that its not only me with a disney addiction lol :lmao:

I've learnt since being here loads about disney, hidden things, packing, park tickets, etc wheres best places to eat...best months to go and what to look out for....loads.
If I never came here off a recommendation through a friend,I wouldnt be so clued up as I am now, nor would I have somewhere to come, when the disney blues kick in... :cheer2:

Anything that I haven't learnt yet has been answered by this thread. Great idea :thumbsup2

Jules, thanks for mentioning me here :thumbsup2 I too have a real feeling that we are to become firm friends on the cruise. That in fact by the end of the 4 nighter, you and Ian would have booked the 7 nighter, we are on next year :cool1: Now that would be a result! :sunny:

Ive leanred many things on this site, same as everyone else:

Its addictive, my ironing pile is GROWING!!!! and do I care ?

The information ive gathered to enhance my holiday is better than most TA 's have. In fact at work ive given cutomers advice on Florida holidays, and im a manager in NEXT, not Lunn Poly! :teeth:

The best thing is that the people are honest kind and caring. DISer's will support you and advise you through any kind of problem, like a true family. :grouphug: sometimes from things ive read, the DIS is better than some families :confused3

People are here for each other 24/7 and thats true magic pixiedust:

Ive learnt so much on the DIS that i could never remember it all!!
some of the main ones though are,

How to make the most of my WDW trips -firework cruises, behind the scenes tours like the segway, where the best places are to eat, how to make ADR's!!

Dolewhips - i did not even know what these were until a discussion recently!

Likewise with Cinnabons.

I have got some great ideas of things to do for my wedding of these boards, ive even had some lovely offers for help on invitations etc from some people!

Best thing ive learnt so far - book a longer holiday! 2 weeks are just not enough!

I've learnt, as above!

also...

...I also have learnt enough Disney stuff to fill my next 6 trips!

...that there is always someone around to support or offer advice

...that between us all we know something about everything (Disney or not)

...that when I am feeling gloomy about my next trip being so far away there will be some generous soul waiting to share their planning or trip reports and give me a 'fix'

...that there are some very kind, generous people who are happy to spread some Pixie Dust and ariel toppers!

but most of all

...that some of you take the strangest photos on holiday! (Evil quiz setters I mean!)

Thanks Guys :grouphug:

What have I gained from these boards?

* A better understanding of how to attack the parks
* What parks are worth visiting (IOA / MGM / SW) and what isn't (EPCOT!)
* How to get the best car rental deals using things like the Mousesaver codes
* Best places to shop i.e. Festival Bay for "Steve & Barrys"
* That some people are a tad over addicted ;)
* I'm grateful for the pictures, descriptions and trip reports of onsite stays that have put me off staying within the walls of WDW (or any other theme park) forever!

Most of all I've found that 99.99% of people on these boards are helpful, friendly, caring, tollerant and in 13 years of using of using Prestel, bulletin boards and the Internet, this is the best board I've encountered.

Not only have I learnt so much about Florida, I have made lots of friends who are as mad as a hatter as I am  and don't roll their eyes :rolleyes2 at me like DBF (I love him really  ) when I talk about our holiday PLUS I have learnt I want a Disney Wedding :bride: (DBF :rolleyes1 ) and all about the

I have to confess to not being quite the "Disneyholic" that Kev, India and Georgia are.

However, through these boards we have met the most amazing people and had some fantastic times. As Deb has already said we now have best friends who we have had some fantastic holidays with and who we consider to be very much part of our life. Although they only live 20 miles away without these boards we would probably never have met :grouphug:

Not only have we met wonderful people from the UK but through our love of Disney we have met lifelong friends throughout America - hi to Susan, Sharon, Evan and Lu Beth - amongs't others.

The advice and tips have been invaluable and we now pass on those tips to first timers that we know are going to "The World" for the first time.

Looking forward to more meets and more reunions in the future - somehow I always seem to get talked into visiting WDW even if I say we are having "a year off"!!!! - even got talked into buying an Annual Pass this year - how did that happen :drinking1

Oh dear Tammy, I'm trying to persuade Callum to have 5 years off! doesn't sound like I'll be that successful

I forgot to say that as a result of these boards two people who work where we are going to stay PM'd me with some advice. Have started e-mailing one of them on a regular basis and she has sent me a Cast Members magazine with Pirates of Carribean photos in and an actual photograph of Mickey (personally signed by the Mouse himself) saying he's looking forward to us going next year. So I now not only have friends over here I've got one at Disney too.

How fabulous Lizzy - the magic reaches you long before you're even there :wizard:

That's brilliant Wendy :cloud9: You lucky thing :thumbsup2

I have learnt that you should tip your mousekeeper

I have learnt how to book adr's.

I have learnt how to add an attachment to a post. (though it still takes me ages) :)

I now know some of the best places to eat in Orlando, and where to shop for a bargain.

And i have also met some wonderful people on these boards who are always so friendly and will listen to each others problems and cheer each other up!

And... i dieted for years and only ever lost half a stone which went back plus more. Last year on the 2nd of Jan we started the dis weekly weigh in for 2005. With lots of tips and encouragement i lost 5 stone and have kept it off :cheer2: So a great big thankyou to everyone :yay:

I've learnt not to invite strangers into your house otherwise you can never get rid of them again :confused3 :confused3 Also that drinking heavily and planning holidays at the same time is an expensive game
