What has happened to the Living Statues?

Does any one have any information about the Living Statues that were in Epcot? They used to have a show at the French pavilion then were moved to Italy. They are no longer listed on Steve Soare's web site of Epcot entertainment. Are they gone forever? That would be such a disappointment.

Yep their contracts weren't renewed. Andymation at MGM the balloonamator hasn't had his contract renewed either, so finishes today.

This isn't yet another cut back is it???

Losing both is truly a shame. :sad1:

This is a bummer. What is the best way to complain about this? We will be down soon, I am going to go into Guest Services and mention how much we missed them.
We enjoy all the extra entertainment like this.

Wow, this is very, very sad. I always stop to watch the performance but I haven't interacted with the statue in years - until this past November... and I had a lot of fun then. How disappointing that I won't get to see them again.

I was at Busch Gardens Tampa this past Thur and to my surprise performing in front of the Moroccan Palace Theatre was a "statue" as I remember from Epcot.

:earsboy: :earsboy:

You could try writing to Lee Cockerell. I know that supportive letters have been sent to him re this situation, which I'm afraid is down to cost cutting.

The Living Statues were something unique, fun, and a change of pace. Maybe I just don't like change, but it seems like a mistake to let these performers go. My kids will be disappointed this summer.

HOW SAD!!!!
W absolutely loved the living statues! They were such an unique experience!
My kids will be bummed for sure!
Last trip, both the boys interacted with them by accident (thought they were real statues till she put her hand on their head! LOL)
They still talk about it to this day!
Glad we got some great pics!
:( bummed out though! This was a must do in epcot for us!
:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

This totally stinks! We absolutely loved the living statues and made a point to catch them on every trip. :confused3

I'd never seen Andymation until this January. A group of us were touring MGM on marathon weekend. We stopped and watched him for probably 30-40 minutes, and were lucky enough to come away with 3 of his creations. We also had a really great time listening to his wonderful humor. :) Later we interacted with a street performer who came into Primetime doing a "Mike check". :rotfl:

The ride/attractions are great, but these little "extras" are what make Disney so special to us. ::yes::

I'm so sorry to hear of this decision. They'll all truly be missed.

DS13 will be bummed to hear about this
We just found them on our past Oct trip

Wow that does stink! We got some great pics of DD in October playing thumbwars and trying to get her glasses back. DD is so cool is so much more outgoing and participates in things that I never would have dared to do at her age and some still to this day. She is my hero! princess:

I asked this question after we got back from our trip in mid-March. I'm bummed to find out that they are gone for good, I was hoping that they would be back after a haitus. And I meant to catch the balloon guy this time and we missed it - never saw him, but he looked fun!

I guess I had always sort of assumed that the entertainers in the World Showcase were somehow sponsored by the nation they represent. I guess that's why I always thought it odd that the statues switched countries a few years back! (I'm slow to catch on sometimes...)

Terrible news!! We always enjoyed the statues and Andymation was talented, good with the kids and also like a Disney encyclopedia....he told Disney trivia during his whole performance!!

If given the choice - and I know I am not - I would pay a little more for tickets if it included the extra performers. To me THEY are what take Disney to the next level.

I have the email address for guest communications. I think it is the appropriate place to express our concerns. We were given this email in Dec. to voice our opinion that the Main St. Christmas Band should not be "terminated". Let's try to flood Disney with our opininons.

I'm sorry...but I don't get the "cost cutting". Crowds have been back up to levels pre-9/11 and costs of hotels are up. I don't get it :confused3 . So there will be more people there....and less of the entertainment that we've come to expect :(. Bummer! The statues were a not to be missed event for us on our past trips. My kids are not going to be happy!

I just emailed them and I encourage everyone else who loves this type of entertainment to do the same. Maybe if we flood them with email they will see how important it is to bring them back!

We've gotten some great photos with the Living Statues on past trips and really look forward to seeing them. I am very disappointed that they are gone. :sad1:

NOOOO!!!! DD will be so disappointed the statues are gone, we had such a wonderful experience with them on a past trip. I agree they were one of the special "extras" that added to the magic.
