I was just thinking, in the 15 years DLP has been in existence, a LOT has actually changed! Some small things, some not so small - what do YOU miss?

I really miss how the March Hare cafe used to sell lovely 'unbirthday cakes', they were basically nut muffins, but being a small one, i thought they were magical.

I also miss how each shop used to sell really different things, such as the Bazaar of course, and in some shops you used to be able to get things you just couldn't in others.

I'm also quite sad Le Vis has gone, for while i didn't 'get it' as a youngster, I really enjoyed it the last time i saw it, and it was quite unique.

Oh and the La Belle et la Bete show at Videopolis was fab, as was the Hunchback of Notre Dame one...really not a fan of the Lion King show, even though the singers are good, the show's concept doesn't appeal...

Let me know what you miss so we can have a good old walk down memory lane!

:goodvibes

I miss specialty shops, you know, more shops like the Christmas shop in the castle. I don't know if they have ever been there, but I would like to see the book shop ONLY sell books (and maybe products that can be related to books), but I don't like how they sell a little bit of everything. There are so many Disney-books in print that it shouldn't be too difficult to fill a store with them :)

I have never known Autopia to be open :( Have it open more or use the space for a new ride!

Fireworks. There used to be fireworks in the winter time. Bring them back!

Also, I liked Belle's christmas show at her fountain, but past winter, they didn't have it :( Neither did they have le Noel de Mickey. Either reaplce it or keep it, don't just skip it!

I've only been twice since march 06 so hope you don't mind me jumping on this tread but...............come on how can you not like the Lion King show?:rotfl: In my opinion it's the best thing there!!!

Right got that off my chest .....have a great day xxxxxx::MinnieMo

The main thing I can think of is the change to buffet style Restaurants in some locations.

The Beaver Creek in the Sequioia Lodge used to have a great menu, but last time I went it swtiched to a buffet, although nice I end up with a mess on my plate :lmao: and trying a slice of everytype of desert is good though.

I don't like the Lion King show either, sorry.
Maybe, if I hadn't seen the musical, I would like it a little better. But I have seen the musical, and don't like the show.

To each his/her own I guess :)

We also loved 'La Belle et la Bete' show at Videopolis, I know he's recently been back but we also enjoyed Merlin's mini show, another show enjoyed was 'Le Livre Magique de Mickey' and my son liked the car that sat outside the Emporium.

Looking back over my photographs from May 1993 alot has changed, I can't believe we went the first time so totally unprepared of what to see and do!

Hi Everyone, Newbie to this site!

We are going in May and I am hoping that the Autopia is open as well as the paddle steamers because they are never open when I go!

Also I heard about a silhouette artist which I was hoping to visit and get one done of my DD, but from other discussion boards, it seems that they no longer have one, which I am disppointed about.

I also agree with the merchandise. It's just boring, boring, boring to find the same things in every shop, the shops should be much more 'themed' and specialised in my opinion.

The thing I miss most is the fireworks. All the other parks have them every night, why do we have to miss out?!? It's not fair :sad2: :guilty: :scared:

When I first went (1996) he was there... But yeah sounds as though he's not anymore... Was a long time ago...

I've not been this year yet, in fact I've not beein in over 5 years.. But from reading the things it sounds like I'm going to miss are Merlin, and specialised shops.... I remember how you had to go in every shop to see what they were selling... Because it was so different to the one you just visited.. I'm quite disapointed in hearing about all the shops selling pretty much the same stuff.. Bit rubbish really..

I'll also miss the old parades, I got the cds... The old Main Street Electrical Parade followed by fireworks was amazing, I used to love it...

I expect I'll find a lot more stuff that I miss later this year when I go... But hopefully there'll be enough new stuff that I love (I went just before the opening of the studios last year so not seen any of that yet), that it will all make up for it...

I would imagine that because they cost so much and DLP has debts to try and sort out 1st.

Its not fair but I would rather they sort themselves out financially and spend money on new rides, and then look at other extras.

I have seen the Lion King musical and in Disney, I love both.

Thankyou! :)

I've been lurking for a few days and finally got the courage to post, it's good to find such a nice forum...

I agree with what you are saying about the fireworks and needing to get debts sorted.

As for the Lion King show, I saw the show in Videopolis which was great but even better was the open air Lion King show (which we saw on a beautiful Summer Day) outside the castle which finished with a real baby lion cub being held to the sky by Rafiki - that was a really really magical moment!

Hello and welcome to the DIS Hollytigs and lostinwonderland

I liked the fact that the Main Street Electrical parade was on every weekend, rather than just at certain times of the year, as they now do with Fantillusion. Still I do understand the need for keeping the budget down, and this way they make certain seasons more special.

I miss Le Visionarium, the twinkly lights over the Disney Village (though I'm glad the columns have gone!) and the dessert served at the Hunters Grill in SL - where the ingredients to make up an ice cream sundae were placed on your table on a lazy susan!! Simple pleasures!! ;)

Yep think that's the same reason I'm not a massive fan. I'll still go see it, but I think Tarzan is the KING of DLP shows at the mo!

You guys have reminded me of so much - i totally forgot I had my silhoette (?!) done! That was a nice touch.

I don't know if anyone remembers the fireworks allll the way back in 1992 (september i think it was, it may have been our second trip in summer 1993 though..) but the fireworks were simply the best I have ever seen, in terms of choreograpy. it was to the sorcerors apprentice...absolutely mindblowing, you could tell they had put a lot of effort into it. we didn't even know there were fireworks, we were in the boardwalk candy palace place, and we heard the first few notes, paid for our stuff, ran outside and the fireworks were starting! magical.

I miss the old CDs too - i had a fab one with music from alice in wonderland, mary poppins, jungle book...all melodies...sometimes you can hear them play it before shows or just as you enter the park.

I also miss the main street electrical parade...i hope they clear their debt up soon so there can be fireworks EVERY night!! :yay:

I wish we'd visited Le Visionarium when we had the chance and I would like to see Fantillusion running more frequently, I'd love to see it again.

I too remember reading that fireworks are restricted by local laws, I'd like to see them one day but I don't feel we've missed out by not seeing them.

The Merlin show was resurrected recently for the Welsh festival.

Things I'd like to see changed "Lion King" - loved it the first time, but we've seen it 4 times now and same reason I'm really looking forward to the new parade

I miss the Captain EO film starring Michael Jackson, I love 3D.

I too miss the Livre De Mickey show and the Main Street Electrical Parade and Fireworks. Last March it was really sad leaving the park without a big finale to finish off the day!!
