What has changed at the parks since 2001?

This will be our first time back since Sept. of 2001..

What has changed since then?

New things added?

Old things gone?

Also, what is this "Cinderella Surprise" I heard someone speak of ?

Do they still have Mickey's Jammin' Parade in AK? We knew nothing about it, and therefore missed it in 2001. Also - historically - the first week of December - what time of day would it run?

Hmmm, let's see what I can remember from then. Yes the parade in AK is still going on. Usually late afternoon, around 4:30 or so.
Alien Encounter is gone, replace by Stitch this fall. Philharmagic is in the Lion King spot in Fantasyland. Who Wants to be a Millionaire is in MGM. IASW is closed for rehab until spring '05. Cinderella Surprise, if I remember correctly is a show in the castle forecourt. Food Rocks is gone from Epcot. But, Mission Space is there now. I'm sure there is stuff I'm forgetting tho.

Was Kali River Rapids open in AK in 2001? I know the first time I rode it was 2002 but I hadn't been ther ein a year so you might have caught it also Primeval Whirl in Chester and Hester's PLay area in DinoLand USA was new for me in 2002, you might have caught that too...I'm drawing a blank on anything else new except for Wishes is the nighttime fireworks show at MK now. I haven't seen it but it's amazing according to my parents.

I think the above posters have hit the main changes, but you can also go to waltdisneyworld.com to their vacation planning area, put in the year of your last trip, and it will tell you what is new since then.

Oh, one other thing I thought of, the Tapestry of Dreams parade at Epcot is no longer.

Philamagic is a wonderful 3D experience! It features music/scenes from more recent Disney films. You can even smell the apple pie! I saw it twice on my last visit and can't wait to do it again. Very very nice for the whole family.

Sort of like "Honey I Shrunk the Audience" or "It's Tough to Be a Bug" but not scarey at all. And, it features Donald Duck, my absolute favorite! Disney songs are featured, "A Whole New World," "Be Our Guest," "I Just Can't Wait to Be King," and many others. It's very, very well done--it was my favorite on our last trip in March.

And, yes, Missy, you can smell the apple pie!

I do not know when your family is going or if your family likes football but the Tampa Bay Bucaneers are training at Wide World of Sports Complex till i believe the 16th or 17th of August.... I went 2 years ago and it was pretty cool too see a NFL practice just a suggestion

Another vote for Mickey's Philharmagic. The best 3D show in all of WDW!!! We saw it twice. Great effects and music. My kids sang along to all of the songs.
