I am going to have a 6 month old and an almost 3 year old with my husband and myself.

Just trying to avoid disaster :) any input would be great

We have been going to Disney as a family since our kids were 2, 3, 4 and 7 and we have never had a bad dining experience at Disney. Sure some places have slightly better tasting food and some servers are better than others, but I can honestly say, we have never had a bad dining experience on Disney Property.

I have to agree with this. I haven't had too many TS meals yet (next year!!) so I'm not an expert on those. But, ever since I was a kid we have gone to Disney and there is nothing I could really complain about. As PP said there are places that may have better/worse food or something that you thought you would love but was just "eh", I would never call it a bad dining experience. Just don't go expecting white glove treatment and 5-star meals and you will be okay. It seems many times the people who have the bad experiences are the ones who set their expectations too high. Remember, it's still a giant theme park serving food to the masses day after day. Check the menu for the places you are interested in on http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm so you know what kind of food to expect before you go. If you are unsure about a restaurant look up reviews or ask others on the DIS boards. Have a great time :yay:!

not that you would probably be going there, we thought Shula's was horrible. We were very disappointed in the food, service, and price:eek:

Amen to that. I cringe every time I read posts on this board where people are just raving about Shula's. Overrated and overpriced. End of story.

If you wait long enough for everyone to answer you will not have any
restaurants to go to because there is always someone who didn't like it.

I would look over information about the different restaurants and if you like the menu and discription of the atmosphere, I would try it--
you never know you may have a wonderful experiance.

For example 2 that were listed on thread:
Tutto--had the best meal and service last trip--and have made ADRs for next month and looking forward to it.
Sci-fi--we really enjoy our meal and the fun unique atmosphere.

so I wouldn't rule out any restaurants until you try them yourself.

Well said, I agree 100%. Everyone has different taste and no restaurant can please everyone.

The restaurant in the mexico pavillion. Horrible.

I totally agree. Food was not very good (dry chicken, soggy tortillas), and service was horrendous. I think the only time we saw our waiter was when he took our order. Never came back for drink refills, didn't even bring us our food (someone from the kitchen did). We had to hunt him down for our check after waiting at least 15 min. The only good thing about that restaurant was the amazing atmosphere. But I can get that from just visiting the pavilion and for much cheaper. Other than that, no bad meals. Some were better than others but nothing could compare to how bad San Angel Inn was.

There are horrible reviews and great reviews of every Disney restaurant. That being said, I would avoid the ABC Commisary at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

I enjoyed Sci-Fi and Tutto.

Biergarten is now on my never ever again list. It used to be one of our favorites but the last two times the food tasted like someone put soap in it. Totally inedible.

I've never had a really bad experience with any food at Disney (maybe it helps that I'm easy to please...if it's the proper temperature and edible, and I didn't have to cook it or clean it up, I'm a happy camper).

But the worst service I've ever experienced was at the Big River Grille at the Boardwalk. They were slow, billed us incorrectly, and even the manager couldn't/wouldn't fix things properly and was less than polite. I'll never go back; there are enough other choices I do enjoy that I won't be missing anything.

Our two worst, never-go-back were:

1. Sci-Fi - bad food (mine was completely inedible), big waste of $$$.

2. ABC Commissary - DH said it was the worst burger he's ever had (after two bites it went into the trash)

Mama Melrose was also pretty bad but not necessarily on the "never again" list.

So we won't be eating in the Studios again any time soon!

I agree with the PP who said that eventually you'll have to rule out every restaurant at WDW because somebody will have had a bad experience.

Overall, in all of our trips, I've never encountered a restaurant that I think was so terrible (or even so bad) that I could not see its appeal to anybody. There is one restaurant (WCC) that my family did not care for at all, and to which we will not return in the foreseeable future, but it is packed every night with happy looking diners and is beloved by many, so that's a sign that it's obviously appealing to many. There are other restaurants that don't appeal, either because of their cuisine or theme, but those are personal decisions and don't reflect on the quality of the restaurant.

Ultimately, I suggest checking the menus online and making educated decisions. Read reviews here and elsewhere, but if someplace appeals, then give it a try. Isolated service and food issues happen everywhere, so don't take singular reviews as signs to avoid a place entirely if it appeals to you and your family!

Don't worry about what people say are the "worst" restaurants - my husband and I have eaten at some of these so-called bad places, and honestly, we loved them. There are some great-reviewed restaurants, that he and I just did not like. So, you must remember, it's all subjective. :)

Peruse the menus, find something that fights your schedule, your budget, and your bellies, and enjoy! :goodvibes

We enjoy eating out and like a variety of different cusines. That being said we can't say that we have ever had a terrible meal at Disney. There have been some like Tutto that we weren't very impressed with, but we'd didn't dislike it badly enough to say "never again".
