What has been the worst present you ever received?

DH once got me a book of stamps for Mother's Day. I know I looked at him with an odd expression because he said, "I really wanted you to get something that you wanted, and you're always asking me if I have any stamps, so I knew you really wanted some!"

:rotfl2:

I felt bad because I knew he thought it was a very appropriate gift. It's a guy thing. :rotfl:

For me, that would be the earwax candles my dsister got me for xmas one year. You know the kind you light one end and stick the other end in your ear to get your wax flowing:rotfl::confused3 If I remember right, smoke would be coming from your ears too. Its suppose to "vacuum" out the earwax.

Mother and father in law bought dh and I a big console dehumidifier for a wedding present:confused3

WTH?? Lighting something-ON FIRE- while it's sticking out of your ear? Wouldn't you catch your hair on fire?

Yep, I agree. We can close this thread cuz nothing can beat that one!

One year, DMIL got me a red shirt, white pants, and black turtleneck (exactly what I had asked for).

The following year, I got an absolutely identical red shirt, white pants and black turtleneck. Exactly the same.

All I can figure is she found her "shopping" list (the one from the previous year), forgot it was old and thought it was for the current year. DH didn't realize until I was LMAO on the way home trying to explain it to him.

The worst gift we received was...well, I don't know what it was,. There was a lot of yellow, feathers, some little ceramic birds, and I don't know what.:confused3

I bought my Girlfriend, Now wife a sapphire and diamond ring, Intead of putting the ring in a traditional ring box, I bought the ugliest silver snake ring and put that in the box......after she opened the ring box and she saw the snake ring she had this awful look on her face and said....this......is, nice. I let he off the hook very, very fast. Funny thing is now, I opened up one of her fashion magazines a couple of days ago and saw a snake ring nearly identical to that folks are wearing now...I suppose I'm a trend setter way before my time....:rotfl2:

Once, someone who worked at the same place I do gave me a stuffed duckling in a glass globe. :scared1: There was no way I was going to take it home, and it remained in my office, and when I transferred to another position, needless to say, it stayed in the office.

Who the heck would think that someone would want a plain little yellow duckling (no adornment whatsoever) on a wooden platform, enclosed in glass. :sad2:

As a former teacher, I had received many terrible, yet well-intentioned gifts...... THe worst was from a 7th grade student who thought he was buying something very thoughtful... It was a long necklace with a huge DIOR spelled out in rhinestones about 3 inches tall.... the worst part is that I felt compelled to wear the ugly necklace to school a few times.... :headache:

I once got an electic toothbrush from my step grandmother. She told me I didn't take proper care of my teeth and that she would show me how to use it. I was 5 and had discoloration from using heavy duty antibiotics when I had pneumonia in both lungs earlier that year. She was a chain smoker and had nasty teeth.

Aww. She should talk.

That was so sweet of you. :flower3:

My mother in law, always known for her tacky gifts, once gave me a rock from her yard with a face drawn on with a Sharpie. And she went on and on about how much fun she had drawing that face on it.

:cheer2: :dance3: I was hoping you'd come along and share that story!

My then-boyfriend once bought me a Redskins Division Champions t-shirt for Valentine's Day. I don't know if it's sad or just really, really thrifty that I still have it and occasionally wear it to the gym.

i think she means papaya.

My worst was this ugly, gilded trash can. My sister gave it to me for Christmas. I in turn, helped my dad pick out a purse for her one Christmas. Big, ugly, fake leather and pink.

A laser etched LED fairy paperweight from a kiosk in the mall from my MIL. :confused3 She was on a streak for a couple of years. There was the crockpot that could feed an army (too big to fit on the counter), a bath towel skirt thingy for DH, and a tablecloth/napkin/curtain set for our kitchen b/c she didn't like what we had picked out. Things are better now that we live far away. ;)

My great Aunt was infamous for her tacky gifts. The worst one though was the white tights with the candy canes on them that she gave me the year I was 16 and they were 3 sizes too small.

She passed away almost 5 years ago and I do miss her crazy gifts and the laughter we all got out of them.

My FIL gave me an artificial conch shell that was filled with artificial roses with artificial water droplets on it!!! It was horrendous. I almost blew a blood vessel in my head holding in the laughter.

My MIL gave me a lamp that sparked and caught fire when I plugged it in.

Woohoo inlaws!!

I'm thinking you are in the running for 1st place

Oh now that is too funny :rotfl:
