What happens when your FP+ attraction is down

I don't know what happened around 6:00 yesterday, but we found Barnstormer, Pooh, and Pirates all down at the same time. We had FP+ for Barnstormer for this time. As we stood in front of the attraction trying to figure out what we wanted to do next, as all the attractions were quite busy; we got an email from Disney Destinations giving us several choices as a replacement:
Peter Pan's Flight®
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The Barnstormer
Dumbo the Flying Elephant®
"it's a small world"®
Mickey's PhilharMagic®
Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid
Mad Tea Party
The text said we could visit any of these attraction starting at the beginning of our original FP+ window until the park closed or the beginning of EMH.

That happened us on Sunday with SDMT. We were able to return and ride it at any time that afternoon.

However..... That wasn't the case with the parade! We got to the FP+ viewing area about 20 mins prior to parade start. Great spot just to the right of the Castle, with the parade coming from the left. All our photos would have had the Castle as a backdrop. Well, at 3:00' they announced that the parade was canceled due to weather. I completely understand that....I do. But....to say we could get a FP+ for a different attraction to replace the parade one? Nope, not working for me. I don't think that being able to do Buzz instead of the parade was terrific. It would have been nice if we had been offered a FP for the parade on a different day.
