We did it!!! Talked to our guide last night and put down the initial deposit. While talking to her she took our SS#'s and called back today with a membership number and the MS number to make our Oct reservations. She told us we'd get our Fedex package between Fri and Mon with our application. So is that it, are we members? What if our financing falls through? I just want everything to go ok-I'm all jittery!!

In all likelihood, that's about it! You can call tomorrow and make your first reservation if you wish.

You'll get that paperwork in a few days. It will have to be signed, notarized, and returned with the remainder of your deposit. The acceptance rate on financing is VERY high. You cannot use points if you are behind in payments, and if you default, they simply take back the contract. So, there's relatively little risk for DVC. Worst case they may ask you to make a larger downpayment, but unless your credit is very poor, the odds of even that happening are slim.

Congrats.

Don't worry. As was said before, they just may ask for a larger deposit. My DH has a bankruptcy on his credit report and we just had to put down 10% more and have to off the loan in 5 years instead of 10.

I just paid the final downpayment on our 160 points yesterday. Yay me!

Just wanted to say Welcome Home and Congratulations, Neighbor :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
(and I like your screen name :)

Sorry being a bit dim here, when you say it has to be notarized, what does this mean??

Sorry, I don't know what the British equivalent might be.

In the US, a Notary is a third-party who witnesses the signing of a document by the named individual, and then imprints the document with his/her own seal and signature. The notary is basically certifying that the "John Smith" listed on the documents is the same "John Smith" who signed and agreed to the terms of the document.

After we signed all the paperwork and sent it back, we were able to call after a few days and find out if everything was ok and approved. After THAT was when we considered it to be 100% good to go! But, we don't have the final closing till early June, so we won't be OFFICIAL members till then, atleast in our own minds. LOL They already sent us our permanent membership cards though, and they say we are members since April 2005! (We signed all the paperwork and everything in March.)

Congrats!!! :sunny:
