I know they say not to book flights after DCL vacation before noon, but there are some good priced flights leaving around 11:20 AM. What would happen if we would miss our flight? Could we check in and try to get on the next flight? We'll probably be flying USAir if that makes any difference.

It really depends. If all of your itinerary is together, the airline will reprotect you. This will only happen if you book your air through the same place you book your cruise.

If you miss your flight and you've purchased it seperatly, theres nothing the airline has to do. Though they probably will put you on another flight, but that could be HOURS away..

I wouldnt try to save a few bucks and risk missing a plane on seperate domestic tickets, which is what you have.

They have a "flat tire" rule. They allow you an hour. You are at their mercy with regards to the next flight home.

I wouldn't chance it.

As the others have said, this really isn't the best way to plan. It is typically up to the airlines as to what they can and will do. Generally, most of them will allow you to fly standby on a later flight but that guarantees you nothing. With the load factors running as high as they do out of Orlando you could literally be sitting in the airport for a couple of days. Also, the airline owes you nothing so if you are stranded there overnight or for an extended period of time they will not supply meals or hotel rooms.

Take it from an experienced business traveller--you DO NOT want to miss your booked flight ! It's not worth the hassle for a few extra minutes or dollars. If so, be prepared to haggle, argue, run around, etc. for the better part of a full day. And with a family in tow--that is not how you want to end your vacation.

How are you getting to the airport? I might try it if I was using a towncar service. Not sure I'd want to wait for a Mears bus to fill up or even have to allow extra time to return a rental car.

DCL is telling you not to book a flight before 12:00, I think you'll save almost 30 minutes by not having to wait for the bus or return a rental.

Make sure you're saving enough $$$ to justify the extra stress (and expense of a town car service).

Don't need to worry about this anymore. Booked air today for $187/pp from BWI to MCO. Our return flight doesn't leave until 5:45 PM so it's all good!::yes::
