My best friend and I (both 18 at the time) had dinner ressies at the Brown Derby while my parents dined at CG. We were staying at the BCV and decided to take the ferry instead of walking to HS-- which was a bad choice. We gave ourselves 30 min to get to the park from BCV (we were there in mid-June so it wasn't busy busy, but crowds were definitely picking up every day). We ended up waiting for the ferry at the dock for 20 min and then decided that we were going to be late so we started walking, as soon as we got halfway on the dock, the ferry came into sight. Being silly (we thought the ferry would've been shorter than walking), we turned around and boarded. The ferry ended up being super slow- slower than usual, judging from my past experiences. As soon as the ferry docked, we hit the ground running (well walking at a brisk pace is probably a better way to describe our speed). We made it to the BD ~30 min late. The hostesses were giggling a little at our appearance (it was a warm June day after all), and told us that other people have also commented on the slowness of the ferry that evening. We waited about 20 min to be seated (so we were seated 50 min after our scheduled ressie)- but I'm definitely not complaining- it served us right. We should've left earlier or decided earlier while waiting to walk and not wait for the ferry. So I'm not saying that the host/esses care about what the excuse is, I'm just saying that sometimes you get lucky.
