What happens if I make an ADR for 5:00pm but don't show up until 5:30? Will we still be able to get a seat?

TIA

Paula

I guess it depends where you're eating, and how busy it is while you are there. (For example, I have seen them call someone's name for a character meal several times & then give a "final" call). My guess would be that you would not get a table if you show up 30 minutes late. They usually tell you to arrive early for your ADR & then you will get the next available table for your party size.

Maybe someone else has had experience with this & can answer your question better.

I believe they only hold your table for 15 minutes. If you think you will be late I would try to book a later adr. It would be better to show up early and have to wait rather then showing up late and not getting a table.

I agree with the previous post. Remember, you are not making a reservation, you are getting the next available table for your party size after you arrive at your designated time. I too believe that they will call your names a few times after 5:00 and then move on to other parties if you are not present.

Try to be at the restaurant a few minutes earlier than your scheduled time if at all possible.

It will depend on the restaurant, but you probably don't want to try it. The only place where I have actual experience is Boma - which will let you have fifteen minutes past your ADR time. If you show up later than that they will put you in the standby queue. It's most likely that Boma is not the only restaurant with that rule.

At the busier places they usually won't hold past 15 mins unless there is some exceptional circumstance. I know at Sci Fi, 1900 Park Faire, and Le Cellier late people were being turned away on our last trip. That includes having the whole party there to be seated as well. I ran for Star Tours FP's after we signed in at Sci Fi and were told to wait 20 mins and then 2 mins later they had our table but I wasn't there. Luckily they held the table but the hostess said had it been more than that few mins they wouldn't have.

I was told that they hold your table for 20 minutes when we called one day hoping for a later dinner reservation. Even though many of our dinner times were around 4:15 by the time we got our meals it was closer to 5pm. Worked out well for us.

Depending on the restaurants popularity and how busy, you MAY forfeit your ressie.I saw people who turned up late at Le Cellier turned away .I saw people at Chef mickeys turned away and at Boma. They generally hold for 15 mins. After that they may tell you No,or make you wait till table availble

Maybe, but you'll most likely have a very long wait depending on the restaurant. That time is very popular for dinner! It will be just like you didn't have an ADR, and you'll be seated behind all of the other guests w/o ADRs that have arrived ahead of you...and, you won't be seated at a table meant for those with a 5:30pm ADR. I agree with other posters -- not a good idea.

Actually, the name won't be called at all for a party that hasn't checked in at the desk.

I once overslept and was 40 minutes late for a dinner at 'Ohana. Luck was on our side - once we checked in, we were seated in five minutes. (This was in mid July, too, not a slow season.) But I wouldn't want to bank on this.

This really depends on the restaurant and how busy it is. We somehow got our ADR time confused during Christmas/NYE week one year and went to Le Chefs 30 minutes late. They were able to get us in without a problem. However, I would not count on this and make it to your reservation on time. This could back them up by your showing up late and could make other guests have a longer wait as a result.

Last year we had an ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafe that we were late for. We waited at least 45 minutes for a table, which was only fair. Just arrive early or on time.

They definitely don't hold a table for you. We had an ADR for LTT and unfortunately, someone on Splash Mountain thought it would be funny to dip their shoes in the water and dump them on each other....which triggered something in the ride that caused it to shut down...JUST as we were about to get on.

I timed it perfectly to get to our ADR but because of this snag, we were about 20 mins late. By the time we got there, our table had been given away and we had to wait about an hour.

My best friend and I (both 18 at the time) had dinner ressies at the Brown Derby while my parents dined at CG. We were staying at the BCV and decided to take the ferry instead of walking to HS-- which was a bad choice. We gave ourselves 30 min to get to the park from BCV (we were there in mid-June so it wasn't busy busy, but crowds were definitely picking up every day). We ended up waiting for the ferry at the dock for 20 min and then decided that we were going to be late so we started walking, as soon as we got halfway on the dock, the ferry came into sight. Being silly (we thought the ferry would've been shorter than walking), we turned around and boarded. The ferry ended up being super slow- slower than usual, judging from my past experiences. As soon as the ferry docked, we hit the ground running (well walking at a brisk pace is probably a better way to describe our speed). We made it to the BD ~30 min late. The hostesses were giggling a little at our appearance (it was a warm June day after all), and told us that other people have also commented on the slowness of the ferry that evening. We waited about 20 min to be seated (so we were seated 50 min after our scheduled ressie)- but I'm definitely not complaining- it served us right. We should've left earlier or decided earlier while waiting to walk and not wait for the ferry. So I'm not saying that the host/esses care about what the excuse is, I'm just saying that sometimes you get lucky.

Ok, not that I am proud of it, but DH and I were persistantly late for either breakfast or dinner. I guess I can blame it on getting used to the buses and transportation system -- later in the trip we got alot better.

Anyways, we were 40 minutes late for Kona Cafe dinner and 30 minutes late for breakfast and still got seated. We were 30 minutes late for 1900 PF and got seated after a 15 minute wait. WE were 20 minutes late for Jiko as well.

I promise we were perfect if not early later in the trip -- but the first couple of days was a bit rough.

But we did get seated --- and I think from what it sounds like we did get lucky!

On our last trip in June - we had a reservation for 11 of us at Coral Reef - 4 of us arrived early but couldn't check in until the other 7 showed up. The other 7 texted me they were running 5 mins late - told check in and they said fine, we were "pre checked in". Then I saw 2-3 of the remaining 7 and assumed the rest were with them - so they checked us in and told us they would work on getting our table. Well imagine my shock when 3 were still missing MIA on a ride....
So back I went and they pulled my ticket from being set up and we waited again for another 15-20 mins.

We were very fortunate they were so understanding as our full party wasn't all together until a good 35 mins post reservation time..

My family was late -- thanks to transportation issues -- for a dinner ADR at Whispering Canyon. We got seated, but only after waiting nearly an hour.

I guess we've been very fortunate. We have shown up both early and late and have always been seated relatively quickly. I don't know that we waited more than 10 minutes for any of our adr's last month except for Chef Mickey's for breakfast which may have been about 20-25 minutes. It was mobbed in there.
