what happens if you rent a car for a week but only need it for 3 days?

So I need a car at RSW for only 3-4 days. The 5 day rental is cheaper. What will they do to me if I just drop it off early?

They could charge you what the rate would have been for the 3-4 day rental

They will reprice the car to the next available rate class you qualify for, which will almost certainly be the daily rate (which is much higher then a weekly rate).

In addition, they may also charge you an early return fee, depends on the agency.

I agree with the others. You are best to reserve it for what you really need it for so you know upfront what you will be charged. If you do what you suggested you will be hit with unexpected charges or fees.

You said you may need the car for 3 or 4 days. Rental agencies generally charge you for an extra day once you go over 2 hours. Keep the car for 4 days plus 2 hours and you might be charged for 5 days and qualify for your weekly rate.

Otherwise reshop your rental. A different agency/code/coupon may give you a better rate then the rate you'll wind up paying if you don't qualify for a weekly rate with your current reservation.
