What Happens If You Miss Connecting Flight?

Thanks everyone for your replies. It will be me, DH and our 24 year-old son so no trouble sprinting!!
The next flight out is $160 more so that's why I would love to book this one. I would book it if I knew we would get on another flight quickly. It's not worth the stress so I will probably wait and see what Southwest has to offer when they release their next set of dates October 27th.
