What happens if primary passenger in stateroom no-shows

What happens if there are two people in a stateroom, and the primary person for whatever reason is unable to go on the cruise at the last minute? Is the second person on the reservation able to check in and board by themselves?

As long as that second person is an adult, yes.

If it's a child, I don't think so.

I was the primary on a Dec 2015 cruise. And a no-show. The three remaining cruisers boarded with no problem.

Our extended family did a 4 stateroom Alaska cruise last year. At last minute, my brother had to work and could not make the trip. He was the primary in his cabin, but his wife and son still made the trip. We did let DCL know to cancel as much as we could to avoid tip, excursion and I think port charges for him. everything else was not refundable

Were there any extra charges? Did they make the son pay the adult fare for the double occupancy?

The first two people in any given room always pay the adult fare. So, I'm fairly certain that the money they got back was the 3 person's refundable items (port fees & taxes, excursions, and no gratuities charged).
