What happened to our book thread?

I felt the same way! I kept wanting to yell at the girl to quit being an idiot and stop putting up with that crap! Lol plus the horrible writing bugged me too! How many ways can you say oh my and bite your lip? Apparently just one! Lol
Glad it wasn't just me!!!

.....just finished Fearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich...Stephanie Plum and Lula just crack me up! :rotfl2:

Just reading "The History Of Glue". I just can't put it down...

.....hmmmm.....similar experience with the book I read 2 weeks ago, How to Hypnotize in One Easy Step......now, if you'll just excuse me, I think there's an egg I have to lay..."BUUUUUUUUCK, bwuck, bwuck, bwuck, bwuck...."

Since i read Gone Girl, I been loving Gillian Flynn. I am intrigued how all he novels, the hero has so many flaws. Im in the Middle of "Sharp Objects" and it sure isnt disappointing. The hero is a single lady in her 30,s a newspaper reporter, she always has to keep her body completely covered because she carves words all over her body, so she scared everywhere but her face

Just finished Divergent - it was good, not great. I enjoyed Hunger Games a lot more. But it held my attention - just didn't wow me at all.

Currently reading Wife 22 based on a recommendation in my local paper - can't remember the author.

Can't believe how many books I've read this summer! My goal was to read 5 - I've just about doubled that number!

I'm currently reading Gone Girl. I don't know how I feel about it. Can't really figure Nick out!

Have you read 'Dark Places'? That one caught my eye and I've recently added it to my list.

I'm currently reading 'Kissed a Sad Goodbye' by Deborah Crombie. I've been going through her series from the beginning and so far, they've just been so-so. I've heard that they get better as you go along and so far, I'm really enjoying this one.

However, I really wish she'd chuck all the silly romance garbage between the two lead characters. It seems that there is a general consensus out there that a book won't sell without some sort of romantic plot line so she tosses in all the expected formulaic sub-plots and cliches with no substance. UGH. If I wanted romance, I'd read a romance novel.

Help me out please........I don't know what the cheering is all about.

I am half way thru Night Circus and am struggling to continue......:confused3:confused3:confused3

What am I missing? Should I finish it? Really hate to quit a book but this is really dragging........

Thanks

I recently discovered Diane Chamberlain - love her books. I just finished "The Bay at Midnight" and really enjoyed it. I also liked "Cypress Point" and "Secret Lives".

I felt the same way about Night Circus. So many people raved about it, but I just didn't get it. The whole time reading it I felt like I was missing something (which wouldn't surprise me, lol). I don't like to quit books either so I finished. I thought it was an okay book and am glad I stuck it out.

Almost finished with Wife 22 - am really enjoying it. Can't believe I've read this book in 3 days - that's a record for me, lol. Any woman who has spent a little too much time online and on Facebook most likely would "get" this book. :)

Grrrr... I have been waiting for this ebook all summer on Overdrive. I was originally 278 in line. Book became available for me over this past weekend and you have 48 hours to check it out with your library card # (and my card was on my desk at work!) By the time Monday rolled around, the time had expired. I had to jump back into line - I'm now 297, arg!

I might as well just fork out the $12.99 and buy the stupid book, lol.

I just finished The Girl Who Chased the Moon. I don't usually love light reading but I very much enjoyed this author (Sara Addison Allen) and the style. I will read another of her books.

I have downloaded The Strain and another of the above author's books. I'm not sure which one I will start next since they are very different from one another.

For me, I guess, it was the "magical realism" that sucked me in! I enjoyed the whole "idea" of the book. However, I have a friend that absolutely cringes when I ask her to read a book like this. Some people really like it, and others don't. Personally, I do! I love a book that has my belief strained!

I'm supposed to be reading "Huckleberry Finn", but I'm having a hard time sticking with it.

In the meantime, I finished "Possible Side Effects" by Augusten Burroughs. This was a collection of essays, and I really didn't enjoy them. They weren't awful, but they really weren't compelling, either. I don't know if another of his books "Running with Scissors" is any better. Does anyone know?

Now, I'm in the middle of "The Venetian Betrayal" by Steve Berry. This is awesome!!! Very much in the lines of "The DaVinci Code", but I think I like this author a little better. Earlier this summer I read another of his, "The Templar Legacy" and loved it, too. His writing style is really good!!! The action in the plot really carries things along, and I can't wait to continue reading. To me, that's the sign of a good author!

Slowly reading "A Dance With Dragons"(I fear that GRR Martin will take a long time for the sixth, so trying to delay this temporary end as long as possible).
Afterwards, I will read "A Winter's Tale."

If you have not enjoyed the first half, it's doubtful you will enjoy the second half. This is one of my all time favorite books but it grabbed me from the very beginning.

Just finished a few books over the last week.

Reamde by Neal Stephenson. Easily the best book I've read in the last couple of years. If you like the author Tom Clancy used to be in the 80's, you'll love this book. It's 1000 pages long with small print and narrow margins but it didn't seem that long at all.

World War Z by Max Brooks. Easy to read, interesting format. It's a series of news articles and interviews that describe a fictional Zombie Apocalypse. Fun, but not very challenging.

Redshirts by John Scalzi. A parody of Star Trek as told by the guys who wear the red shirts on away missions. Pretty funny.

....currently reading Black Hills, by Nora Roberts....
