What happened to our book thread?

LOL - to each their own... I like the bad boys. ;)

Me too but his sarcasm puts Morelli over the edge for me.

I was just thinking of the male characters from Guilty Pleasures and I like Jean too. I really disliked Stephen. I found nothing attractive about him.

Not a Ranger fan...I'm team Morelli.

Me, too! I have not read these books in years. I went from reading 1-6 in about 2 weeks and then reading the next four as soon as they came out. I have not read any since the 10th. Maybe I should get back to them.

Agreed! I couldn't even make it thru the 1st book of 50 Shades. Blah!

I'm currently reading 50 Shades & I thought it was just me. It's really not that good & actually kind of disturbing.

I just finished War Brides by Helen Bryant which I really enjoyed and I am starting Sour Apples by Sheila Connelly which is the 4th or 5th book in a cozy mystery series that I enjoy :)

Just bought If Walls Could Talk: An Intimate History of the Home and the Daily Life of the Middle Ages so now I just want to zoom through Grey.

I've actually heard more people that don't like it than do. I HATED it!!! I didn't go on to the books in the series.

Thank you to those of you who recommended The Kitchen House. I just put it on my Kindle and can't put it down. The Book Thief is next on my list!

Just finished What Happens Next in 2 days. A real page turner. I had quite a wait for it at the library. It was pretty good.

Right before that, I read The Good Dream by Donna LanViere (I think that's the author's name). That was a very good, feel-good story.

I finished Gone Girl last night and I didn't care for it. Tonight I will be starting The Age of Miracles.

So no on Gone Girl? What didn't you like? I thought I'd try it out.

Who is the author? I found a few with this title on Amazon and none sound like page-turners. One is a guide about dealing with the death of a loved one, one seems pretty juvenile and hasn't even been released yet. One is non-fiction about American screenwriting. I'm always looking for a good page-turner, so fill me in!

I'll finish 50 Shades, but so far it's just not my cup of tea.

Loved The Book Thief & The Kitchen House. Those are my kind of books! :goodvibes

I just started Mudbound due to a recommendation on here. Only 17% through but loving it
Thoroughly enjoyed Mudbound. Have recommended it quite a few times to friends.

Just finished the Book Thief, loved it. Big tip, the first 10 pages or so, "Death" is the narrator, don't let it turn you off. The real story will start shortly after that. So good.:thumbsup2

Just started The Blossom Street series by Debbie Macomber, thanks whoever recommended, liking it so far:).

I enjoy a decent Sci Fi or fantasy book from time to time but I know that it's meant to be fantasy. This one was not of that genre but was too unbelievable.

Sorry!! It's What Comes Next by John Katzenbach. Here is a link to a Washington Post review of it.

Gone Girl is a really hot book right now and, for most of the way through, it's a pretty good page-turner. However, it is one of those books that holds a lot of promise and the ending 100% sucks.

Oh, I hate to hear that. I was looking forward to reading that one but I may have to reconsider if the ending is that bad.

I am about halfway through Iron House right now and I am thoroughly enjoying it. While it is classified as a mystery, I think even those who don't care for that genre would enjoy it.

That's disappointing to hear. I hate when promising books end badly. I've been waiting for this book all summer - sitting at 71 in the reserve line. I may not get to it until Christmas, lol.

Well, okay, maybe it doesn't 100% suck ;) but I hate it when an author cannot not make a clean, good ending. It's such a copout. That's how I felt about this book.

I don't know what it is about that book but it just doesn't appeal to me. You really liked it?

Yes! Give Night Circus a try! I was iffy on it too.

My daughter is reading it now and really likes it too!
