Did they cancel her show already?? I must admit I could only watch it once. I didn't care for it. And Brian Boitano's show (which was better than Melissa's) was cancelled also. The new show Alex's Day Off with Alex Guarnashelli is pretty good.

Wow us NY'ers must be reading each other's thoughts :rotfl: - I just said to my DD last night too what happened to Melissa ! Not that I really planned to watch her either, I didn't think she was best choice and maybe now Food Network has realized that too.

And whatever happened to AMY ???

My DD seemed to think after Amy was picked there was some sort of something that happened with her and her show was pulled ( I will have to do a little digging on the net to see if I can turn up info ).

:)

Here is what I found:

Food Network has renewed Ten Dollar Dinners, featuring The Next Food Network Star: Season 5 winner, Melissa d'Arabian, for a second season, it was announced today. The popular new daytime series, airing Sundays at 12:30pm ET/PT, will begin taping 13 more episodes in December to air in early 2010.
On the program, Melissa shows viewers how to incorporate out of the ordinary and delicious meals into their budgets by sharing her recipes while sticking to her promise: Four people, ten bucks, infinite possibilities. From her signature Potato-Bacon Torte to Crispy-Skinned Chicken a l'Orange, Melissa takes home cooking to a whole new level!
As a wife and a stay-at-home mother to her four preschool-aged daughters, Melissa pairs her varied culinary and life experiences to provide food lifestyle solutions to today’s families. Due to her mother’s schooling and career, Melissa moved around as a child living in Tucson, Ariz., San Diego, and Bethesda, Md. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at The University of Vermont in 1990 and went on to earn her MBA at Georgetown University in 1993 before launching a successful career in business consulting and finance. She stopped working during her twin pregnancy in 2007. Melissa believes strongly in volunteering, her Christian faith and living her life with meaning and purpose. She and her family recently relocated from Keller, Texas to Kirkland, Wash.

Here's the scoop on Amy...

Amy Finley said no to a second season of her Food show in part due to blogger “attacks”
Next Food Network Star » June 9, 2008, 7:12 AM

Amy Finley, the winner of Next Food Network Star 3, got her own show, but turned down an offer to produce more episodes. The Gourmet Next Door aired six episodes, but it is now finished—in part due to “vicious” attacks from bloggers.

In an interview on the network’s site, Amy said, “I will not be back for another season. The producers offered me more shows, but with my family I decided it was time to move on to other projects. The lifestyle and obligations of a television personality — including cultivating the thick skin it takes to survive the harsh criticism and vicious personal attacks mounted by bloggers — just aren’t compatible with my goals or my family at this time.”

Amy, who’s now writing a column for Bon Appetit magazine and living in France (she’ll return to San Diego this fall), said her show “was a learning experience. I was very nervous and also continuously plagued by a sense of guilt that I shouldn’t be there, and it made getting through the filming at times very difficult. I’m also my own worst critic and I wanted to do a great job, to earn the honor that had been given to me instead of another one of the extremely deserving and qualified NFNS3 cast members.”

She said that while “t’s very, very, very hard,” she says, “I had a wonderful time. I pushed myself, I was proud of what I accomplished, and I think I succeeded in my mission, which was to share the love I have for French food with people and to teach them about cooking.”

Very interesting. I must have missed something because I didn't enjoy Melissa's show at all. Different strokes.

...and for Melissa, what first season? I guess I missed it. I only caught two shows. She's ok....
I must have missed prior seasons (I know Guy obviously) because I had to look to see who Amy was!

I like Alex G., I have to DVR her shows...
Time for some fresh ideas w/FN for me. The only ones who I enjoy anymore are Guy and Giada.

Did they cancel her show already??
The winners get a six-episode run, that's it.

After that, it's just like they're Rachel Ray or Alton Brown: They get contracted for more episodes only if their show's first six episodes got good enough ratings to warrant renewal or a new series.

I liked Melissa's show, and was also just wondering what had happened to her. I am glad to see that she will be filiming more episodes!

I didn't like Amy, can't stand "Big Daddy's House", but LOVE Guy Fiero's shows.

I think when Amy threw the hissy fit on tv and was crying and all and not being sure if she wanted to be there or not, should have been a sign to Food Network.

I do like Melissa's show and Big Daddy's. :goodvibes
