What happened to Bob Jackson?

We are soon returning to Port Orleans,..... probably RS I guess? Has anyone seen Bob Jackson, the piano player at the Cotton Coop Lounge? Thanks!

Artemus

I heard he wasn't there as of a few weeks ago. However, I'd suggest you check the live entertainment at Pleasure Island and at the piano bar on the Boardwalk (Jellyrolls?) I know we really liked Elliot Dyson, the saxaphone player at POFQ. Of course he isn't there now-no one is! Well, I was checking over live entertainment at PI, and there he was!

I can just picture him playing in Jelly Rolls!

But I would rather enjoy him in the Cotton Coop. My 9 year old is still talking about the "crazy guy Bob" who changes all the words in the songs around.

I sure hope PO decision makers see these posts. Of course I would not expect Bob to stick in one place all his life either.

I was hoping he would be back for Spring Break. Going in May. Still hoping.

We enjoyed Bob Jackson very much. On our recent trip my wife inquired as to his whereabouts and was told that he is performing at an offsite establishment geared more towards adult humor.

The staff told my wife that POR has been swamped with requests for his return and admits that the resort lounge suffers without him.

We certainly hope he returns now that attendance is improving.

Tim.

I knew he would be working someplace. While we can't know the whole story, I figured WDW let him go due to the slowdown, but maybe not. The fellow has to eat, right? We were there once when Bob was in Paris on vacation last Spring and the fellow filling in actually played in the Golden Horseshoe Revue as well. So if it were just that Bob wanted to go elsewhere, WDW would have replaced him. Since they did not, I think it was because of the slowdown. COME HOME BOB! We miss you!

Going in May and October 2002!!!!!!!!!!!!

While we can't know the whole story, I figured WDW let him go due to the slowdown, but maybe not.

Bob was a victim of cutbacks at POR when the resort basically closed down. They closed the lounge for the most part, and many of the waitstaff were also relocated. It was a sad time, my kids and I live about 15 minutes away and it was a fun night for all of us to go and see Bob playing there!

I'm going to send him an email and see if I can find out what's going on and where he is now!!! If I find out, I'll let you all know! :)

Ms. Karen Disney, that would be wonderful. I have heard about him here on the Dis for years and would love to be able to see his show in person someday.

Since Bob is gone, does anyone know of any other WDW resort lounge that has anything like him? Hopefully someone of his caliber has found a spot within the confines of a WDW resort. Does anyone know??

Hi folks! Sorry to take so long...!!!

I DID receive an email back from Bob Jackson over the weekend and I have information about where he is playing most nights currently (resort outside of Disney) as well as a contact to email at WDW to show our support!!! If anyone would like that info, please PM me and I'll get it to you! He wants to be back at Dixie (yea, Riverside...I know:rolleyes: ) very much and the more support he gets, the better his chances!

As for Disney, he's still there pt, and does work at the Tarzan Rocks show as well as the Diamond Horseshoe Revue. :)

As I said, PM me for his new "gig" and also for the email contact to BRING BOB JACKSON BACK!!! :D :D :D :D

Oh, and as for other entertainment at the resorts, there has been nothing like him that I've seen...the closest thing is Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk, but it's not for under 21...

Keith Brandford's office (mgr at PO-R) responded to my inquiry by saying that Bob isn't there right now but they are hopeful he will return soon. For what that's worth...I dont think he'll be back by the time we go next month.

I wrote to Keith too but did not hear anything back yet. We are going end of May. Fingers crossed. But we'll have fun anyway of course. Really looking forward to seeing Manheim Steamroller at Epcot!

Count me in. I want the e-mail address to BRING BOB HOME! I'll PM you, Ms. Karen Disney.

I e-mailed and signed the petition. I am responding so this doesn't get put on the back burner. Thanks to both of you for trying to get our FAVORITE WDW entertainer back where he belongs.
